Hello Friends,

What is plagiarism?

Plagiarism is presenting someone else’s work or ideas as your own, with or without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgement. All published and unpublished material, whether in manuscript, printed or electronic form, is covered under this definition. Plagiarism may be intentional or reckless, or unintentional. Under the regulations for examinations, intentional or reckless plagiarism is a disciplinary offence. source

To put it in my own words, for me plagiarism is simply stealing someone else's work and presenting it as if it were one's own. Obviously whoever commits plagiarism will never mention the real author of the work.

Nowadays it is very easy to commit plagiarism, we just have to search the internet, copy and paste. Many people commit plagiarism every day since they use the information of many authors and pages on the Internet and at no time do they mention them in their works.

Sometimes plagiarism is committed innocently, like when we were in school and did it almost without thinking. other times plagiarism is committed knowing very well what is being done.

Consequences of committing plagiarism.

People who commit plagiarism intentionally should think better, because although in the short term it may be that they gain something, in the long term I think that plagiarism will take its toll.

Little by little whoever commits plagiarism again and again will lose hunger and the desire to create their own ideas. There is nothing that makes us proud more than to see a work created and produced from within us and with our own ideas finished.

another thing that must be taken into account who commits plagiarism is that sooner or later it can be discovered and the consequences of being caught committing plagiarism affect and totally destroy the credibility and career of any person regardless of the area in which they work.

How to avoid plagiarism.

To avoid committing plagiarism we must always mention the source from which we obtained information. A source can be a website, a book, a photo, an author, etc.

When we mention the source of some information that we are using we avoid committing plagiarism and others we are giving the deserved recognition to that person who worked and researched to create that information.

Best practices.

The best practices that we can carry out in this issue of plagiarism are very simple:

  • We must always work hard and use our own creativity and ideas when doing any work. Original content is valued anywhere so we should not get used to being guided by other people's work.

  • If at some point we help ourselves using information from another person or any other source, we must be very strict and always mention that person or that source, so other people can investigate more thoroughly if they wanted, we would be giving the deserved credit to the author of that information and finally we would be well seen because we recognize the work of others.

This was my whole article about plagiarism. Until the next achievement.
