WHAT IS PLAGIARISM

Plagiarism is an unacceptable act of taking someone else's work or ideas and using them as your own idea. It can also be defined as an unlawful act of showing off someone else's work or ideas as your own, without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgment to the main source.

This is a serious crime in the content creation community. It's easy to create to create contents because such contents is just to copy and paste and the whole work is done.

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM

Below are the types of plagiarism;

• ‌Direct plagiarism: Direct plagiarism is the word-for-word transcription of someone else's work, without quotation marks. The intensional plagiarism of someone else's work is unprincipled, academically dishonest, and calls for disciplinary actions.

• ‌Accidental plagiarism:
  This is when a person fails to cite their sources, or misquotes their sources or unintentionally paraphrases a source.

• ‌Complete plagiarism:
  Complete plagiarism is the act of completely copying the whole work and idea of someone's else's work and labelling it as ones own. This is the worst type of plagiarism and must be avoided!

• ‌Duplicate plagiarism:

which also means self-plagiarism. This is the recycling of your own past works.

• ‌Mosaic plagiarism: This means borrowing a phrase from a source without using quotation mark or finds synonyms for the author's language.

HOW TO AVOID PLAGIARISM

There are ways plagiarism can be avoided and should be noted, they are as follows;

• ‌Creativity and originality:
  If you're creative and original in your content writing, there's absolutely no way you can fall a victim of the ugly act called plagiarism. Many people find it hard to be creative that's why they rather choose to copy someone's work.

• ‌Cite your sources scrupulously:*
  When getting an idea or wording that’s not your own, add a citation in your writing that identifies the name of the source you got such idea from, the date it was published, and any other citation element that’s required by the style guide you’re adhering to.

• ‌Understand good paraphrasing ‌practice: Practice steadily on writing and creating to be perfect, because practice makes perfect", by doing this you'll be able to create contents and write ups on your using your idea, thereby plagiarism is avoided.

‌Make researches and improve your knowledge:
Develop a habit of researching, it helps to improve your knowledge on writing and otherwise, get to know terms and ways to write. Sometimes people find it stressful to make research so they copy to make it easier for them.

• ‌Present your own idea:

Instead of copying the source’s ideas or words, explore what you have to say about it. Ask yourself what unique perspective or point you can contribute in your writing that’s entirely your own.

• Use citation method:
