Achievement 3 by @meesamabbas Task : Content Etiquette
Hello everyone, Assalam o Alaikum. I am very excited and motivated as I move towards my achievement 3 post which is about Content Etiquette. Before writing this post, I gathered information and I came to know that steemit is a very creative platform. It motivates newcomers specially to share original and quality content with everyone. So here we go...
Plagiarism:
By definition,
Plagiarism is presenting someone else’s word or ideas as your own, with or without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgement. Source

It is just simply not right to copy someone else’s work; it restricts one’s creativity and thought process. It is allowed to go through someone’s else’s work for reference but just copying and it and presenting it as one’s own is a matter of discussion and there are many ways to stop plagiarism.
WAYS TO AVOID PLAGIARISM
• Changing words by using your creativity and thought process. Paraphrase the whole thing so that it doesn’t look copied.
• Keep in mind the way you think and try to portray that in your respective text. It means the text should look like it is written by YOU.
• Always put reference of the source, it has two benefits for you when the reader reads it. Firstly, it’ll make the reader think that you have not copied anything. Secondly, the reader will appreciate your effort that you have done your research before writing.
Why in the hell Plagiarism matters?
Well, it matters because firstly, it is unethical to copy someone else’s work and secondly it just simply implies that author lacks learning skills. It indicates that author’s learning process is incomplete that’s why he/she is using shortcuts to complete his/her work.
Importance of Plagiarism in Steemit
Steemit is a kind of platform that encourages its users to express themselves as much as they can, share their thoughts, providing information and learning so that others could also learn.

It is quite clear that steemit wants its users to be creative and that’s why this platform strictly condemns plagiarism.
To be a good author in steemit, you should know how to “cite” a source.
CITATION:
It means that the specific link to the source must be provided while writing something that you are referring from a source.
For example:
If I want to describe the term “Citation” and I am referring to a source then I would simply use > markup to quote that part of my text.
A citation is a reference to a source. More precisely, a citation is an abbreviated alphanumeric expression embedded in the body of an intellectual work that denotes an entry in the bibliographic references section of the work for the purpose of acknowledging the relevance of the works of others to the topic of discussion at the spot where the citation appears.Source
The source Link can be provided by writing [Source]+(link of source) at the end of the copied or paraphrased text.
Conclusion
I have read and understood the Steemit Entiquette on Steemit Community and will do my best to embrace them
