Hi! This is my post to gain achievement number 3 of being a newcomer to steemit. I am excited to talk to you today about plagiarism

What is plagiarism?

Wikipedia states:

plagiarism is the representation of another author's language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions as one's own original work. ^Source

This can be a very broad subject and you might be participating plagiarism if you are not careful! It is especially easy on the internet because we have so many tools at our disposal to look up various subjects as well as images. It would be easy for us to find an image related to our post and use it to give our post more life. But that image never really belonged to us so we must make sure that we give credit where it is due.

The same thing goes for any other type of content on the internet. Even just paraphrasing content can be considered plagiarism so you must always provide a source when you are using information from another source to include in your own content. Also if you are just copying someones information directly and making a post while not actually including any of your own thoughts this can be considered plagiarism as well.

So please make sure to include sources in your post so that you give credit to those who worked out to get you the information you needed! By including sources and citations you can reduce the chances of your posts being considered plagiarised!
