Key Retreival

Key retreival is crucial because lost keys cannot be restored. Upon signup, Steemit generates a series of keys and emphsizes to the user to store these, perferably offline so that they cannot be compromised or lost.

Key Functions and Restrictions

Each key that is generated and associated with your account is ranked in a heriarchial order such as everyday use, profile maintenance, all the way up to master password. Based on what you want to accomplish on the platform, will determine what key you would want to choose at login. Here a description of each kind of key:

Posting Key - allows common activity such as post, comment, edit, vote, etc. This should be the most common used key for daily login.

Active Key - this key has higher authority and let's the user transfer funds, Power up/down their STEEM, transfer funds to other users, convert to STEEM Dollars and place market orders. It will also let you manage your profile settings.

Owner Key - With great power comes great responsibility. With this key you can change any other key associated with your account including the Owner Key. It is meant to be kept offline and only user to recover a compromised account.

Memo Key - Use when you want to encrypt or decrypt memos associated with transferring funds.

Master Password

I have selected to keep my password and keys stored offline on a jump drive, stored in a secure location. Each user should determine what method works best for their situation.

Steem Wallet Functions

Each account is associated with a corresponding wallet that stores your steem related crypto. There are three distinct areas in your wallet liquid STEEM, Powered Up STEEM, and STEEEM Backed Dollars. Each area has an associated drop down that allows you to select your desired task. Powering Up Your STEEM

It is encouraged to Power Up your liquid STEEM so that you increase your account and influence on the platform. Its similar to staking for those familiar with that term in the crypto environment. To Power Up, you would select the drop down option in the liquid STEEM area and select "Power Up". Once this process is complete you will see the amount selected transfer from STEEM to STEEM POWER.
