Security online is a highly important aspect that everyone working and socializing online must ensure so that not to lose his privacy data and funds because of any compromise or lack of knowledge about it. I have read through the guidelines of this second achievement and I am here to lay down my understanding of the basic security of a steem account.

First and foremost there various keys on steemit that provide permissions to a steemit user as he continues to interact with the steemit platform. They include the private posting key, active key, owner key, and the memo key. They can all be found in keys and permissions feature that is in the steemitwallet.

Have you retrieved your keys?

Yes, I have done so. I used my steemit master password to retrieve all my steemit keys.

Do you know how to transfer funds to another steemit user?

Yes I have learnt how to do so from my mentor @yohan2on. He taught me that when I want to send funds to another user, I simply go to my steemitwallet signing into it. Enter the transfer details. Then use either my active key or my password to confirm funds transfer to any user that I want.

Do you know how to power up your steem?

Powering up is something that is very essential on steemit, as the powered steem becomes steem power which is termed as influence tokens that can help me in earning more curation rewards. I have learnt how to power up my steem. I do so from my steemitwallet where I simply use my available steem by initiation a convertion into steem power using my active or my master password as a confirmation of that action.

Have you saved your master password?

Yes I have done so. The master password and the owner key have more permissions, I therefore learnt that they ought to be stored safely on either an external hard drive or by printing it out and storing it offline on a durable piece of paper.
