How are you my new world's steemitians friends? I am fine by the grace of Almighty Allah. I am really great full to the steemitians authority that they give me the chance to work on the 'Achievement 3'. That is "Content etiquette". Let me share with you what I know about it.

Content etiquette:
Content etiquette means the customary code of polite behavior in society or among members of a particular profession or group. One should abide by the rules or code of one's community. Plagiarism is one of the very strong codes among them.

What is plagiarism?
Sharing content is expected and the entire internet is also about sharing content. All content creators and authors never mind if you share their contents rather they will love it as it also make more audience for them. But the problem arises when you take too much information and content from them and you didn’t even mention their names. It’s a kind of larceny. I think we are clear now about the concept of plagiarism. There would be no innovation or creativity if plagiarism practiced.

Types of Plagiarism:
There are 4 types of plagiarism. Let me described them shortly.

1. Direct Plagiarism:
   Direct plagiarism is a shameless act. In it someone copied others work word-for-word without mentioning their name.

2. Self-Plagiarism:
   Sometimes authors publish their old papers for research and scholarship without mentioning that those are their old work. And it's the practice of self-plagiarism.

3. Mosaic Plagiarism:
   It occurs when a student borrows phrases from a source without using quotation marks ("…"), or finds synonyms for the author's language while keeping to the same general structure and meaning of the original.

4. Accidental Plagiarism:
   Accidental plagiarism occurs when a person fails or neglects to cite their sources, or misquotes their sources, or unintentionally paraphrases a source by using similar words, groups of words, and/or sentence structure without attribution.

Causes of Plagiarism:
There are some reasons that people plagiarized. They are:
• Lack of creativity but have a strong desire to become famous.
• Laziness is another reason.
• Lack of time management skill.
• People who are cheat by nature.
• Incapability of selecting from numerous sources, etc.

How can you avoid plagiarism?

1. Be honest while using direct quotes. You should use direct quotes or don’t quote at all.
2. Be careful about paraphrase.
3. Beware of cutting and pasting.
4. Use footnotes as you go.
5. Commit to doing your own work.

Actually plagiarism is a kind of crime. We should be genuine in our work. It may destroy your career and fame. Even the authority may dismiss you from your job. So be honesty in your work and it will make you more creative. And creativity always brings fame and honor. I understand the importance of being genuine and definitely avoid plagiarism in my writing. I will obey the rules of Steemit. And I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steem Community and will do my best to embrace them.
