Greetings to everyone in this social media platform. This is my achievement 3 task on plagiarism, a serious issue that is not condone in steemit social media platform. Having completed my achievement 2 task which was on basic security in steem, I learnt about the functions of those basic keys and how to power up and transfer liquid steem. Achievement 3 as I said earlier, is about plagiarism , types and prevention . Plagiarism has become a serious issue in now as people now consider the act of shortcut to success.

Plagiarism

Plagiarism is an act of stylishly framing someone’s work, post or content and using it to create yours without properly sourcing it or giving credit and reference to the original author. Plagiarism is a serious crime in the content creation world. Although it is a way of creating contents with ease because all you do is copying and pasting and then post .plagiarism is horrendous on this platform so should not be condone.

Types of plagiarism

Direct plagiarism: when you say something is direct, it means from the source. This is a type of plagiarism where an author moving open. Another author’s work directly, word for word without a letter or word to make it slightly different. This plagiarism is a serious one as credit is not given to the original author.

Accidental plagiarism: is a type of plagiarism where an author copies someone’s content without actually knowing that this is why it is called accidental plagiarism . Most of the time, you source a work or content but you don’t properly source it and that makes it plagiarized.

Complete plagiarism: is a type of plagiarism where an author completely copies the work of another user without giving reference or credit to the original author or steemit user he copied from

*Mosaic plagiarism: This type of plagiarism occurs when a steemit user or someone copies phrases without using quotation mark or citation.

How to avoid plagiarism

There are many ways to avoid plagiarism when creating contents. First is

  • Creativity and Originality: Being creative and original in your content automatically provide no room for plagiarism since you aren't borrowing phrases or words from other authors. Many people especially students find it hard to be creative that's why they rather choose to copy.

  • Discipline

  • Using Citation method: Whenever you copy a phrase ir you want to include someone's phrase in your post, the best way to handle that is through citation method. Example is;

How vain it is to sit down to write when you have not stood up to live." "I can shake off everything as I write; my sorrows disappear, my courage is reborn." "A writer is someone for whom writing is more difficult than it is for other people." "Let me live, love, and say it well in good sentences

  • Making research and developing your ideas
  • Using plagiarism checker before creating a post. This is the plagiarism checker
