I am so glad to host you here in my Steemit blog, I Hope you are doing fine? This post explores some ethical issues that are of great concern to Steemians and the steemit Community as a whole.
What I have in mind her is the concept of Plagiarism and how to avoid becoming a Plagiarist. Who is a Plagiarist? and what is Plagiarism?

Who is a Plagiarist?

This is a person who is in the habit of taking up other people's intellectual products and presenting it as if they were the brain behind it without paying homage to the originator of the idea.
A simple citation will be enough homage in this case.

According to Yourdictionary.com
"Plagiarism is when you copy someone's work and try to pass it off as your own. Plagiarism can be a violation of copyright laws and can be considered cheating, resulting in you getting a failing grade or even being kicked out of school." Source

Things That Can Be Plagiarize

The following things can be Plagiarized:

  • An idea or a speech.
  • A School Work.
  • A Songs.
  • An Essay.
  • A Picture.
  • A painting or Drawing.
  • A Poems or Musical lerics.
  • A Documents on the internet.
  • A Papers.

Effects of plagiarism

  • Your reputation is the first thing that gets ruined by Plagiarism. Everything you do is now questioned and can't be trusted.
  • in a school, the Plagiarist may get kicked out of the school.
  • even when you write independent materials in the future, it will still be questioned.

Some Types of plagiarism

Outline Plagiarism
This happens when a person's work follow the exact structure of another person's work. It is obvious when ideas are developed in the same sequence.
It looks more like a higher level of paraphrased Plagiarism.

Mosaic Plagiarism:
Collecting materials from different sources and making a compilation of the material. In most cases of Mosaic Plagiarism, the percentage of the writers contribution is very low.

Hired Plagiarism
In this case, the Plagiarist is paying someone to write for them and they will present it as if it was theirs. Though some people still argue that because the material was paid for, then ownership has switched hands.

Failed Collaboration Plagiarism:
Here a party in a joint project is not participating in the project activities but is allowed to share the credit at the end of the project.

How to avoid plagiarism

Make good use of quotation marks to indicate that the words are not yours. After the indication, point to the original owner using proper citations.
After writing your text, use software to confirm that you have not accidentally used a group of words that was used by someone else.

For very long quotations, it is best to use the quotation bar

Life is filled with unanswered questions, but it is the courage to seek those answers that continues to give meaning to life. You can spend your life wallowing in despair, wondering why you were the one who was led towards the road strewn with pain, or you can be grateful that you are strong enough to survive it.
