~Proof of Brain concept~

It simply means, newbies like @beckie96830, understanding the basic knowledge of the production of quality and original contents shared on the steemit blockchain.

There are variety of contents that can be shared on the platform, that's legal, ranging from quotes, pictures, videos, songs, memes, personal diary and lots more.

For contents that doesn't belong to the author, please make sure to source it. Sourcing is highly encouraged and advised.

~How to cite a source~

A well structured and cited article includes adding a link of the source to the particular content sourced. If individual definitions are used from a different author, the link should be placed immediately after the text with the appropriate mark down style.

An good example of proper citation can be seen in my definition of etiquette.

~Content Etiquette~

Etiquette is opined as

the formal manners and rules that are followed in social or professional settings.source

Therefore, in my own definition content etiquette is stated as the application of the formal rules following a professional writing setting.

~Plagiarism~

In simple terms, plagarism can be seen as the act of copying an author(s) work without proper acknowledgement of the author.

Merriam-Webster online dictionary postulated that to plagiarize means:

to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own. to use (another's production) without crediting the source. to commit literary theft.source

There are different types of plagarism namely:

• Direct plagarism:

This refers to the word-for-word translation of a part of an author’s work, without paraphrasing. It's seen as unethical and academical, dishonest.source

• Self Plagiarism:
  Plagiarising oneself by reusing an already published work without permission.

Self-plagiarism applies too when submitting the same project for assignments in different lectures without permission from the lecturers and scholars.source

• Mosaic Plagiarism

When a student or pupil borrows quotes from a source without quotating, or paraphrasing while maintaining the original, it's called Mosaic Plagiarism or Patch Writing. source

• Accidental Plagiarism:

Many authors usually fall under this category. In an attempt to paraphrase a researched work, the researcher might end up misquoting the section of the researched work thereby giving it a different meaning from the original context.

~Summary~

Plagiarism be it direct, self, mosaic or accidental should be highly avoided. It shows lack of seriousness on the part of the plagiarist and above all academic dishonesty.
