Hey there, hungry Steemies! 👋 Ready to sample the renowned street foods found in the Philippines? Prepare yourself for an expedition of amazing tastes and fascinating textures!

image.png

Kicking off our street food journey is the "kwek-kwek." 🍢 These luscious orange balls are produced by rolling hard-boiled quail eggs in a flour-cornstarch mix, then frying them until the exterior is crunchy and the interior is tender. A sweet and piquant vinegar-based dip comes as an accompaniment, and it's a food that's commonly enjoyed in the nation. Not only is it good, but it comes at quite an affordable price of 1 Steem per order.

On to the next food - "isaw." 🍢 At first the name might be a bit daunting, but it's sure to bring a delightful surprise to those who will give it a try! Isaw is made of chicken or pork small intestines that have been speared and roasted. Once they are done, they are cut into smaller pieces and paired with a fiery vinegar-based dipping sauce. Locals simply love this delicious snack, and it's great value for only 1-2 Steem!

Next, we have "balut." 🥚 This peculiar street food cannot be found anywhere else in the globe! It is a fertilized duck egg that's cooked and served with salt or vinegar. It may sound odd, yet the flavor is rich, with a rich yolk and a slightly chewy texture. Balut is more costly than other street food, at 2 Steem per egg.

One more prevalent street food in the Philippines is "taho." 🥤 It is a sugary and fresh snack produced from soft tofu, brown sugar syrup, and sago pearls. The merchant holds an large aluminum receptacle filled with the ingredients, and scoops them into a small plastic cup as customers approach to buy. Taho is great as a snack on a hot day, and reasonably priced at around 1-2 Steem per cup.

Last but not least, we have the "banana cue". 🍌 This dish is usually prepared by skewering small bananas and then submerging them in brown sugar, and then deep-frying them until the sugar gets caramelized and creates a delightful crunchy outside layer. Banana cue is known all across the Philippines and it's a great way to appease sweet tooth cravings without draining your wallet, usually costing about 1-2 Steem per portion.

There we have it Steemies! Some of the most favored Filipino street foods, all unique in their own special way. Whether you are a native or a vacationer, these meals are a must-try experience atleast once during your lifetime. Why not step outside and swing by your local street food market and give them a shot! 🍴🌭🍢

@cherrypine, I see that street food in your Philippine country is very cheap 1 or 2 steem.

The "kwek-kwek" looks very striking, its taste must be exquisite crunchy quail eggs and with the accompanying sauce of sweet and spicy vinegar, even better.

The small intestines of chicken or pork "isaw", in our country we would call it offal skewer, in some places in Venezuela they sell them on the street.

Although not with that vinegar sauce that they add to it in your country.

From the street food of your country, the fertilized duck egg "balut" caught my attention. Sure, as you say, it is delicious and equally economical as all the meals that you named in your publication.

Here we also eat excellent caramelized bananas for their sweet taste, although they are not sold on the street.

Thanks for telling us about your street food, each one of them has its own style and I'm sure they're all very tasty.

I say goodbye wishing you have a happy day.

"kwek-kwek" atau bola-bola orange.

Terlihat sangat enak dan kenyal, saya juga menyukai makanan jalanan tersebut, tapu sayangnya saya harus menempuh jalan yang jauh untuk mendapatkannya, karna jauh dari tempat tinggal saya.
