Welcome to this week steem for better health program, this week we will be talking about Insomnia

In this program we will know what insomnia is, possible causes and of course how to manage it with natural remedies.

Please note; I do not mean you cannot go to the hospital, get checked by a doctor, take prescribed medications that can help your hormones. Rather, I'm going to be introducing you to a natural remedy that works for me and I think I can share it through this program.



What is the benefits of sleeping?

Sleep is very essential to human body because it keeps us healthy and helps in functioning well too. It helps our body, the brain repair, restoration, and re-energize our body.

Failure to have enough sleep, can result in memory challenges, focus, immune system, and mood. And this is called INSOMNIA



What is Insomnia?

Insomnia is a sleeping disorder that makes it difficult either to have a deep sleep, fall asleep easily or stay asleep Thus, when one wakes up at night and couldn't have a sound sleep, it is Insomnia.

You may wake up without feeling refreshed or feel weak and looking stressed all because you didn't have enough rest. To some people it's never something to cause an alarm but to others it might be a disruption.

Have you found yourself in a condition that is difficulty in sleeping at night? Then you need to talk with a doctor or a sleep specialist that will help you in determining the underlying cause after examining you and they will help you improve the quality of your sleep.

Some people may have this symptoms but fail to take notice of it so as to take care of themselves. That is the reason we need to pay attention to our body so that we really know how to take care of ourselves when some certain health issues set in. Let's see the symptoms of insomnia.



Symptoms
  • Finding yourself lying down for a very long time without falling asleep

  • Having difficulty in sleeping again after waking up at night.

  • Lack of concentration



Causes

So many things may be a contributing factor, depending on individual.

  • Stress
  • Genetic
  • Health issues
  • Depression
  • Medication reactions
  • A traumatic occurrence
  • Change of sleeping environment.


Hormones responsible for sleep

Melatonin is the hormones in human body that is responsible for regulating our sleeping pattern. Also the level of this hormones increases in darkness into the blood, that is the reason humans do feel sleepy naturally at night. Signals is being sent to the brain, notifying it that it is time to sleep and then the brain will notify all part of the body that needs to take a rest.



Natural remedy for Insomnia

Banana peels contains amino acids called tryptophan that stimulates the production of hormones which regulate sleep in the body.

  • Banana peel
  • Honey
  • water

Preparation
  • Remove the peel of the banana, wash it.

  • Cut it into pieces then boil it for 10 minutes.

  • Stir well while cooking to be sure the banana has released all the Tryptophan.

  • Strain the water the add a teaspoon of honey to it

  • Take a glass of it one hour before going to bed, it will help you sleep deeply without any medication.

Few weeks ago I discovered that I do not have enough rest due to stress from work and some activities around me. I've always find myself counting all the hours of the night which was not good. I reached out to a medical doctor and I was advised to work on my lifestyle which is the stress I'm currently going through, then my body will naturally adjust.

So after taking this natural remedy, I was so relieved and I had a sound sleep at night.

Remember, do not abuse natural medicine, a class of it before going to sleep is okay whether you take it hot or you take it cold it do the same thing depending on how you want to take it meanwhile do not take it more than 5 days.

I feel so many people in this part of the world are diagnosed with insomnia because of economic hardship, and many are psychologically stressed. I feel your write-up is timely, and many would benefit from it. I would have loved to try the remedy if not that I am an easy sleeper, maybe stress makes me sleep easily😆😆😆😂.
