Contest !! || AIDS Awareness

Greetings! I hope everyone here is doing well and enjoying their life by the Grace of Allah Almighty. Today I'm here to take part in another contest organised by @khursheedanwar and the topic is "AIDS Awareness". It is a harmful disease that must be treate in right time to avoid serious consequences. Lets discuss it further in detail.

AIDS stands for Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome and it is caused by HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus). HIV attacks the body immune system to make it weaker specially CD4 cells that helps in fighting off infections. From time to time, HIV destroys so many of these CD4 cells that the body gets into the stage where it can't fight off infections and diseases anymore. This then leds to AIDS which is the final and most severe stage of HIV infection.

What are the causes of AIDS is HIV is spread through certain body fluids like blood, semen, vaginal fluids, rectal fluids, and sometimes breast milk. The most common and not taking serious way people get HIV is by having unprotected sex with someone who already has HIV. Also it can also be caused by sharing needles or syringes with someone who has HIV. It is also must be noticed that a mother can also pass down HIV to her baby during breastfeeding and childbirth.

However, one thing I want to mention here is HIV is not spread by causal handshakes, hugging or eating food or drinks. HIV is a critical health condition that must be stopped right away to stop spreading of AIDS. When you are having sex and you know other person is having HIV, it is better to not do or use high quality condoms. Another thing is to not share needles and syringes. Get yourself regularly tested to prevent HIV Infection.

AIDS is treated by specific medicines that help in controlling the HIV infection in the body. These medicines are known as antiretroviral therapy (ART). ART medicines are not the solution to cure HIV but they just help people with HIV to live longer with less pain. It helps in stopping the virus from multiplying and destroying the immune system. People with HIV have to take ART everyday and some needs to take it as prescribed by the doctors.

Taking ART medicines regularly can lower the amount of HIV virus in the blood and makes it to very very low level that is undetectable in the blood. When this virus gets to lower level, it means the immune system is back again to stronger level and people start living a healthier life with less getting sick chances. Furthermore, this medicine also helps in less or no passing of virus to others. Continous use of ART can turn HIV virus into a manageable condition just like diabetes.

As I explained above, if we want to prevent AIDS to spread we need to prevent HIV infection to spread because AIDS is the final stage of HIV and HIV is the early stage. As the most common way of HIV spreading is during sex so one of the most effective ways is to prevent HIV by using high quality condoms. Condoms can greatly reduce the risk of passing or getting the virus.

Another important measure is not sharing of needles or syringes as HIV transmits through blood. For people at high risk of HIV, they can use PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) medicines because it lowers the chance of getting infected during intercourse. Furthermore, having regular HIV tests can also help you get to know this infection in early stage and can prevent it from spreading. Pregnant women with HIV should take special medicines to prevent passing this virus to their babies. There are foods, exercises, and medicines that can help in preventing from AIDS and HIV infection.
