Introduction

We are pleased to announce yet another project called BabySteps. The aim of this project is to fine-tune new users experience in their first 7 days on Steemit and make them want to stay. Our ultimate aim here is to boost our user retention rate. SteemALive is a community that does promotion 100%. Lots of users in Nigeria came in through our promotion efforts and we are proud to see many of them grow to become Country representatives, academy professors, community founders and more. It speaks volume about the quality of our promotion and mentorship. However, retention of new users have not been so great, which is why we believe that BabySteps would be effort in the right direction.

Making a great first Impression through BabySteps

We want to make Steemit look attractive to new users. We want to improve new user experience - especially in the first 7 days on the platform. So we have a few things that we are planning to do under the BabySteps project. If users find Steemit interesting, they will want to stay beyond the first few days. We want to increase our new user retention rate, which is a big challenge on Steemit as a platform. Lots of new sign ups, but few staying back. So here are a few things we have in mind doing:

BabySteps - Engagement

Engagement is something SteemAlive is known for. We make engagement part of our community culture. We even launched another engagment project called 5Times7. Everyone wants to have a sense of belonging. The challenge newbies do face is when their first few posts lack engagement. It is discouraging not just for newbies, but for all content creators not to have meaningful comments in their posts.

Through BabySteps, we will make a conscious effort to see that their first 7 posts, and of course other posts have proper engagement. This will make them feel welcomed and accepted. In addition, we will also announce them in our Whatsapp group where they will have the opportunity to connect directly with some of the older members and interact with them. Basically through engagement, we will make new users feel at home. They wont think about stopping if they are properly engaged with. Our Community admin, moderators and members will always be encouraged to visit the Baby Steps

BabySteps - Support

Another challenge that makes people leave few days or weeks after joining is support. Sometimes, the achievement posts are not verified or voted promptly. Even if they do, the question is who will support newbie initial posts in other communities? The answer is obvious and that is a big reason they leave as soon as they arrive - lack of Support.

Through baby Steps, we will use our community trail to support newbies in their first 7 days at least. Newbies that join through this program will have most, if not all of their first 7 posts voted. We will count each post as a day. So starting with this post, we will make one Baby Steps post each week where links of the first 7 posts in the community will be dropped. It will be labelled Day 1, Day 2, .... Day 7.

By the 8th day, we hope the newbie has some posts paying out and we will encourage them to power it up immediately, so that they will qualify to be in club5050 at least, even if they are not up to 1 month old. We hope that this will qualify them to receive more support from the Steemit team too. So through consciously supporting newbies with votes in their first few posts, Newbies would find reasons to stay and continue blogging on Steemit.

Baby Steps - Reward

Another thing we are planning is to give out small gifts to Newbies that showed consistency in their first 7 days. BabySteps will prioritize newbies that are serious both for support and physical rewards. For example, we will expect Newbies to make at least one post each day or one post every two days after their introduction post. Our promoters will teach them what to do and help them learn about Steemit as fast as they can. So while doing their achievement posts, they should be making other posts too in SteemAlive.

We are already in advanced stage of planning small physical rewards for Newbies that will join us through BabySteps. Receiving a gift within the first 10 days of joining Steemit would really be a great first impression on the mind of Newbies. They will feel welcomed, appreciated and motivated to do more. We believe they will not think of slowing down or stopping at all. We will make a post in the coming days to explain our reward plans for BabySteps.

Conclusion

We are a 100% Steemit Promotion community. We have looked at our strategies and seen that things can be changed to achieve more positive results. Last year, we recruited hundreds of new users, but the retention rate was not impressive. Some new users will sign up, make an introduction post, and abandone the account. This is what we want to stop in 2022. This is the very essence of BabySteps.

We have provided mentorship to recruiters. We have advised them to be very selective in promotion. Before they sign up a new user name, they must be convinced that this person woulb be serious and not stop after one post or two. We really hope that BabySteps will help boost our retention rate, theirby adding more value to the community.
