Preamble

Life is never a bed of roses. There would always be ups and downs as well as success and failure. This has been the lifestyle of every mortal. We only pray that we have more of good days and a few of bad days.

This contest might open some wounds and would as well rekindle some good past memories. In any case,it is a lesson for everyone.

The Worst Day of My Life

What contributed to that worst day experience?

Well the worst day of my life was in August 2020 about a year and eleven months ago.It was a day whenever I remember it.I cannot help but just have to sigh.

Bach then in that August,my elder brother was sick and after laboratory test,he was diagnosed of malaria and typhoid which was a common sickness in Nigeria.Treatment was administered to him in a hospital here in the city and he actually responded to treatment, recovered and was discharged.

After a period of one week,he was down again. This was surprising and after he went back to the hospital, they said that they could see any problem from the result of test conducted. And so everyone was worried. We changed hospital and the same story was heard. So we decided to try herbal medicine, after trying it to some days,no result and his blood was draining.I have come to understand that herbal medicine sucks blood.

This time,we agreed to take him to the village as he opined since my parents live there.Treatment proved abortive too.Lastly,he was taken to a private hospital there in my hometown. They started treatment and he was given a bed rest in the hospital. Then I went back to Aba since my parents are living in my hometown, they were with him at the hospital.

My phone rang around 1:30 am on the 24th of August,I picked the call and was told that the young man has passed on.It was a shock to me and sleep left my eyes until the day broke.I travelled to the village the next day.He was deposited in the morgue.

After 3 days,we completed the burial rites and he was interred in the family compound. This was the first time we are losing a family member. The burial day sent tears to my eyes and that of my parents. This condition left me as the first child of the house because I was the second before the death of my elder brother. What a sad day.I don't like to remember it!!.

What did you get wrong or right on that day?
Well. What can I say.I felt that I would have continued to stay with them in the hospital.Maybe,he wouldn't have died if I was there with them.Although somehow,I think once death wants to come.It does not respect the person taking care of the deceased.

What lesson(s) did you learn from that worst day experience?

I have learnt that death can come to any family and death is a cap that every mortal would wear one day provided christ tarries.

I only learnt that no matter how you cry.A dead relative would not come back to life.So we have to endure and hope for the resurrection day.

Finally,I have learnt that herbal medicine sucks blood and so must be accompanied with food that boosts blood.

The Best Day of My Life

What contributed to that worst day experience?

I have a lot but let me share just one.The best day of my life so far was the day of my passing out parade(POP)- which is a ritual that marks the end of ones National Service Year in Nigeria. It took place on the 21 st of December,2017.

My National Youth Service took place in Benue State,Nigeria and it lasted for one year.We started January 2017 and passed out December,2017.I passed through a lot of stress during this period.

with my colleagues

First was the 3 weeks training at the orientation camp. After the training we were then posted to our place of primary assignment (PPA).I was owed for the first three months and so it was hell for me, although my sister tried to assist in her own little way before the stipend issue was resolved.

Next was that the principal of the school where I served was on my neck because I spoke up against the servitude he wanted to subject us to,and so he sometimes delay my clearance letter. However I stood my ground, fought and won.

I was supposed to use my NYSC certificate for a government empowerment program which the deadline was around December,22nd that same year. Then we were told that our passing out parade (POP) won't hold in December again rather in January,2018.This situation means that I can't access the verification process of that empowerment program since my NYSC result won't be ready.I prayed and hoped for a miracle.

Surprisingly,on the 20th of December,we now heard that POP date is no longer in January, but December 21st.I was so happy because I can now use the certificate for the Empowerment verification.Godwilling,we had our POP on that 21st and collected our NYSC certificate.

with my certificate on the POP day

It was my best day, because I successfully completed the one year National Youth Service in one piece and also had my certificate which I used to access the Empowerment program. So it was double blessing.

What did you get wrong or right on that day?

What I got right was that I did not relent and was believing God that we must get our NYSC discharge certificate in december, even when it was fixed for January. And my faith payed off,as we got the certificate in december instead of January.

Another thing I got right was fighting against the ill treatment that the school principal(a tyrant) where we served was giving to us.After the whole battle,he changed and stopped treating subsequent NYSC members that way.

What lesson(s) did you learn from that worst day experience?

I learnt never to lose hope in whatever I do.Miracles do happen.Imagine the POP slated for January 2018,was surprisingly changed to December,2017 and it served my desire because I needed to use the certificate in 2017.

I also learnt to stand by the truth.Fight against tyrants and make them to know that we all are humans are deserve it be treated like one.

Conclusion

This contest is a means of taking everyone back to the memory lane.It has made us to recall our good and bad experiences of which we have plenty of lessons to learn from it.Furthermore,it has availed me the opportunity to read and learn from other people's experience in life. Moreover,I have been able to engage meaningfully on the posts made by other contestants.I am pleased to invite @chant @olabillions @patjewell @mvchacin @anailuj1992

I appreciate your gesture my dear friend.Death is an enemy, and I have learnt to stop blaming my self because death is no respecter of anyone.Yeah,I am happy to complete my national service succesfully and in one piece.@ebuahsang1

Regards!!

Sad my brother, at some point in life we just have to take heart and live our life, the demise of a family member is always a heavy stone in out heart, i can still feel a hot pain in me relating this issuue ti my moms death, but i have learned that life is a hard teacher, and it it like a coin which has two side, the earlier we realise that good and bad are meant to happen in our life the better we get ready for any that befall us.

Greetings and blessings my dear brother, life is of two sides, remember

So this is how you became the first Son of your parents. Chaii, it's very painful and a date one shouldn't remember. It was a great lost to the entire family losing a vibrant young man withing a twinkle of an eye. Sorry my brother.

My dear when date comes, you can not do anything about it. You will be looking the person until the last breath. So, you not staying there is not the reason for his death.

Thanks for visiting my blog @chichieze I learnt death is something that we can't stop provided we are still living in this present earth. We hope to see a time when death and mourning will be no more.

Exactly what the Bible said. Death will be no more in the nearest future when God's kingdom comes. I pray to see my love dead once in Paradise soon. Because God has the power to bring them back to life. Do you believe that

Oh, death where is thy sting? I am so sorry for your loss. Life is full of ups and down. And we just have to accept the things that we can't change. May he rest on.

Also the end of the youth service in Nigeria is indeed a day to remember. Because at that period it just as if a heavy load is been lifted from your head and afterwards one needs to go and search for a job. I believe it was awesome. Goodluck in this contest.

That is it bro.God is the reason why we haven't lost everything in our lives.HE will always console and protect us until the end of times.

It is not good to lose hope in life, the truth is that it will not be bad days all true, life is like a weather, it cannot be rainy day all the time or sunny day all through.

I love your entry.

@samuel you know in this world the mortal must face two things bad and good luck in their lives. I know how you filled when your elder brother died and when you where writing the contest but what i want to let you know is that no amount of tiers can bring back a dead one in everything always give thanks to God because God knows everything so endure it ok.
For your best day i know how excited you filed that time because is not easy for some one to graduate in University because there are so many problems in higher institution but God gave you the grace to over come them. I thank God for that.

Thanks for your comments. We all experience the good and the bad side of life.We all wish to have just few cases of a bad side of life.I have moved on after the loss. You know what?...life continues until and unless death comes around.

 2 years ago (edited)

Yeah @samuel that is very sure but we pray for God's protection,we will not die Young.
our mission on earth must be complete that is what we all prayed for

You are so correct.Good and bad, success and failure are two sides of life that everyone would experience.I have learnt a lesson from each part of the coin.We shall continue to do our best until death comes calling.
