Season 11 has started!

The 144. edition was played with 11 players!

With this round we have started a new format: thematic tournaments with starting positions of known openings. This gives every player the opportunity to refresh and deepen their knowledge. Even if we only give a few moves, unfamiliar positions arise. For example, for me as a d4 player, an opening with e4 is completely new. Of course, it doesn't hurt to look at the position in Lichess' opening book and take a closer look at the next moves. With this preparation I was able to get a good third place. Next week, the Trompovski attack is on the program, so time enough to prepare. (1. d4 Nf6 2. Bg5)

Today's opening was the French defense: 1.e4 e6. From here there are countless variants for both sides and the next moves will show whether the whole thing continues to take place in French territory. From the 34 games of the day, here is a list of the variants played:

Mit dieser Runde haben wir ein neues Format begonnen: Thematische Turniere mit Anfangspositionen bekannter Eröffnungen. Damit hat jeder Spieler die Möglichkeit sein Wissen aufzufrischen und zu vertiefen. Auch wenn wir nur wenig Züge vorgeben entstehen doch ungewohnte Stellungen. So ist zum Beispiel für mich als d4 Spieler eine Eröffnung mit e4 völlig neu. Da schadet es dann natürlich nicht sich die Stellung im Eröffnungsbuch von Lichess anzusehen und die nächsten Züge etwas genauer unter die Lupe zu nehmen. Mit dieser Vorbereitung konnte ich einen guten dritten Platz ergattern. Nächste Woche steht dann der Trompovski Angriff auf dem Programm, Zeit genug also sich vorzubereiten. (1. d4 Nf6 2. Bg5)

Die heutige Eröffnung war die französische Verteidigung: 1.e4 e6. Von hier aus gibt es unzählige Varianten für beide Seiten und ob das ganze sich weiterhin im französischen Gebiet abspielt zeigen die nächsten Züge. Aus den 34 Partien des Tages hier eine Auflistung der gespielten Varianten:
