Training My Students in the Computer Science Laboratory
Greetings dear friends,
It's another day of the week and I would like to share with you all how I spent my day with my students. As you may know now, I'm a lecturer at the College of Education Akwanga Nasarawa State Nigeria.
Every semester we have a practical class and exams for some courses in the business administration department. This time is not an exception. I was called upon a few weeks ago for this semester's practical and after last week, I went to the laboratory and tried to fix some of the systems as most of them had issues.
The little knowledge I had on hardware is what I use to work around the system because they are a very old set of systems and they don't work properly. Every small shake will make the system stop functioning. Since I understood this perfectly, I decided to fix it last week for the classes to start this week.
I was supposed to be in the class by at least 1:00 p.m., but because I had another engagement with Microcima Africa I wasn't able to meet up with the time. So I decided to go to the class an hour late. On arriving at the class I saw most of the students grumbling that they had waited too long without seeing me but I told them that they should learn to wait because most lecturers will not come at the stipulated time.
After briefly addressing them and helping them understand how the entire thing works we went in batch by batch and then started the practicals. It is a practical that is taken as part of their CA so all the students need to put in effort and ensure they do well because if they do then they may need to come back next year. So during the.classes after teaching I gave them the task to carry out.
From the many images you see above you will agree with me that the students are learning and doing their best to get the required knowledge. Everyone is busy with the practicals and I have also decided to take a picture of them seeing how serious they are. It was indeed a long day for me because I had to endure what I explained clearly all they needed to write the exams perfectly.
So throughout the day, I spent it in the lab because we had a lot of students and the number of computers was less as compared to where we were using for the practical before. I finished very late and then I went back home because I was so exhausted. Since I haven't written since the whole. of today due to too much commitment, when I got home I decided to freshen up and then sit back and write this diary you are seeing today.
I wrote the diary and then I decided to also do other things that I had to do online before making the post. So that was how I spent my entire day. I hope you enjoyed reading through my blog today.
"Wow, what a wonderful day you had! 😊 It's amazing to see how dedicated you are to teaching and helping your students learn. Those photos are so inspiring! 📸 I can almost feel the energy in the lab as the students work on their practicals.
I'm sure it was a long day for you, but it sounds like you made a real impact on your students' learning experience. Kudos to you for going above and beyond to ensure they had everything they needed! 🙌

This is one thing I don't like about the Government Institute: computers like this will spoil and then won't repair it; I mean, practicals like this are far better than theories. Because it's hard to forget what you do with your hands. You had a productive day, success!

Sir, if I were there, could I join your class?
It seems like the new students are starting with the basics of Microsoft Office Word. But their faces are very serious in studying.
