How to send noraml and private memos in Steemit

You can send a memo to anyone on Steem with Memo.

Normal Message

You can log in to your Steem account with any key, but you will be requested to enter your Active or Owner key again because this memo sending consists of asset (Steem, SBD) transfer.

In your wallet, you can send a memo. There is no way to send a memo without transferring Steem or SBD. This is to prevent spam memos.

Private (Encrypted) Message

Encrypted messages will only be readable by the SENDER and the RECEIVER. This is helpful if you are going to send sensitive messages on Steemit. Encrypted messages will not be readable on the STEEM blockchain. The encrypted message in the blockchain is recorded in the encrypted form.

1. Log in with your Memo or Owner key.
   You cannot send an encrypted message with your Posting or Active key.
   Your Active key may also be required later in the process, as this message sending includes transferring an asset.

2. Enter the Receiver's name and any amount to transfer.

3. In the Memo field, make sure the first thing you type is #, followed by your message, and then Submit.
