Introduction

Talking about most embarrassing moments in childhood. I have so many of them. Some of them are unforgettable, which will also remain in my memory. I want to talk about the one that happened when I was in primary four. Before I proceed, I am calling on @manuelhooks, @bela90, and @bossj23 to participate in this engagement challenge.

Have you ever been embarrassed? tell us the scenario and how you felt.

I have been embarrassed many times during my childhood.
Firstly, I remember being embarrassed in front of all my classmates at school.
What happens that leads to such embarrassment?
Let me briefly talk about it.
It was back then in my primary school day. To be precise, it was the primary four class. My teacher believed I was the most intelligent in the class and that I understood everything that he taught. One day, in one of his mathematics classes, after teaching, he gave us some class activities, and he demanded that we come out and solve the mathematics on the board. He called on some pupils to come out and solved the mathematics on the board, and when they didn't have it right, he flogged them mercilessly.

While flogging some of those pupils, he was making a comment. "Why can't you people be like Uduak?" That was me he was referring to that I know and understand everything, even this mathematics you people are finding it hard to understand, she knows it all.
Meanwhile, I didn't understand that particular mathematics as I used to understand others. Maybe he didn't explain well, I can't tell.
He took the chalk from the pupils and solved it.

He wrote then next number, which was number two, and also asked people to come out and solve it. No one could solve it, and he was still boasting that I can slove the mathematics, Meanwhile I didn't know that particular mathematics as I used to know others.

After trying all the students, he confidently called me and said, "Uduak, take thus chalk and do it for them, let them continue to be stupid."

He was sure sure I understood the mathematics that I could also solve it as usual. Other pupils in the class believed that I understood the mathematics and that I could do it. But I didn't understand that particular mathematics as usual.

Well, I summoned courage, took the chalk from him, and went to the board trying to solve the problem.
When some it to some extent, I didn't know what to do again and I stood still. I saw the disappointment in his face and at a point the whole class of pupils who were crying boast into laughter.

The man, out of anger, said he was disappointed at me and that I deceived him with my look and the fact that I was busy solving it in a piece of paper.

He couldn't flogged me as he did to other pupils.

He asked me to go to my seat, but my legs were stiffened, I couldn't move, still thinking of how I would face my classmates.

I was mocked at, I was mimicked and for the whole school year I was still being reminded the act even when the teacher had forgiven me because I later made he proud as the overall best in the school.

👉Do you think you deserve the embarrassment , or should it have been someone else?

I didn't think I deserved the embarrassment.

  • The teacher should have asked me if I understood the mathematics being that I used to have others correct.

  • I didn't tell him that I knew it and later failed to have it right. He assumed I knew it because of his past experiences with me.

  • I was not pretending by trying to slove the mathematics in a piece of paper as my mate thought I did. I was actually working hard in order to get the answers.

  • I didn't completely faild the mathematics, I solved it to some point at which I didn't know what next to do.

  • The teacher should have given us time to ask questions at where we didn't understand, and that would have helped me understand the whole mathematics.

👉What have you done to avoid such a scenario from reoccurring

To avoid such a scenario from happening, I usually speak up when I don't understand any subject and topics taught in school. Keeping quiet will make the teacher assume that I know it. I also developed the attitude of asking questions in class, which also benefits my other classmates.
I worked so hard to avoid being distracted in class because I believed that when the teacher was solving the mathematics to that point, maybe I was distracted. That was why I didn't get the point.
Above all, I was honest to always tell the teacher the questions I don't know and the ones that I know.
These and many other points helped me to avoid such a scenario from happening.

Conclusion

There is no way we can completely escape being embarrassed in life, especially in our childhood. The most important thing is doing something to avoid the embarrassment from reoccurring.

Can I laugh too? Don't worry I won't

The teacher should have asked me if I understood the mathematics being that I used to have others correct.

I think this situation of your happened for a reason which was a lesson for you and your teacher too. It's not good to draw conclusions about something when you're not sure. Such actions can bring conflicts which is not usually healthy in a learning environment.

Trainers and learners should always try to be out spoken too so as not to embarrassed in anyway. Nice write up

MODs Comment/Recommendation: Ahh I can imagine the embarrassment, there's always a particular student teachers do believe in, and hope they know it all, haha. Sorry for the embarrassment, you didn't deserve it. it's good to know that you were good at mathematics, As for me it was until my university's days, infact I used to get A's in all the calculations courses. Success!

Remember to always share your post on Twitter. This POST LINK is a guide to that effect.

He failed to asked me if i understood those exercises. He uses his past experiences to judge the present which the outcome wasn't good enough for me. I am glad you read my post.

Honestly, you don't deserve such embarrassment, your teacher dragged you into it and thank goodness he was able to forgive you with time.

Thank you for sharing your experience
Success in the contest!

You are not perfect even as the overall best. But it wasn't your fault neither was it the teachers fault. It happens. But I am glad that you were the overall best even after the incidence. Embarrassing Moment is not anyone's mate dear. I am glad you are telling it as a story now. Success dear

Thank you so much ma'am for visiting my blog. I am not perfect and the teacher just believed so much in me. I am happy i made him smile at the end.

This is really embarrassing, but this happens everyday in schools where a teacher will always trust that smart child in class. Do you know I encountered such with my pupils, This girl in my class is super intelligent so when supervisors came to school I picked her to represent my class she went there and didn't answer any question rather she was telling them she is hungry because it was break time.

Just imagine that. What has hunger got to do with answering questions. Imagine even when supervisor was around. Too bad. Thank you for reading my post
