THE DIARY GAME : 02/08/2020 : Days with bees
Hi guys ,
How are you ? Hope you guys doing well .. well speaking about my day , it was really great and went as planed. If you went my yesterdays #thediarygame post , we captured a natural beehive and put it in a wooden beekeeping box. I explained it to you step by step. It was a very complex and time consuming procedure. Today we completed the next part of that project. We brought that beehive box to my place and placed it in a proper location in the garden as follows..
This is it now ..
okey when placing a beehive we have to consider the following factors
- We have to keep the beehive box as it's door ( the door bees use ) to the south east direction
- The position should be easily reachable and risk free when harvesting bee honey.
- It should be a protected place from wind ( A covered place is more suitable )
- It should get good ventilation
- Should be protected from heat of sun.
So we considered these factors and selected a place to keep our beehive. Then we have to protect it from ants
For that we made a pond type footer for the column using a small tire and cement. As you can see in the above image it makes a ring of water around the column , so the ants can't reach the beehive. So we completed that part successfully.
okey ,, the whole process is over now .. as you can see now they are ready to work and collect honey. In the above image you can see mouth or the door of the wooden box where bees use to reach the hive inside . And speaking about the box used for the behive.. we normally use the white color paint for this as it reflects sunlight/ white surfaces absorb low energy from sunlight ... so it keeps the beehive cooler. So This is it. We have to wait till December for first bee honey harvest hopefully.
So this was my day.. worthy day actually .. a new experience for me too.. actually this is my second bee hive ..Now I feel like I'm getting addicted to this beekeeping as it's very exciting , challenging and the financial benefits and it will protect our environment !

I have to commend you for your bravery. I couldn't get close to a bee let alone hold a beehive. But why put the bee hives in the south east direction? Does that make capture easier?
It was genius using the pond tyre and cement to anchor the footstand. We do same here in Ghana to support some dry lines. Some very local gyming sites also use pairs of those to help secure weights. Very helpful indeed. Thank you for sharing this day with me @besticofinder.
@njaywan .. I'm very happy to see that you went through my post. Thanks for that mate. Yes answering your question.. The life of bee's are connected with sun.. when we place the hive door to that direction .. the bee's get the morning sunlight early. So it will start their day early .. that means more harvest !
