When you worry about the same thought repeatedly its overthinking. Overthinking people can be paralyzed by their worries and may have difficulty to make correct decisions or take a right quick action.

Overthinking can be caused by many reasons that veries person to person and can result in the form of depression, anxiety, and other mental health disorders.

How To Address Overthinking

There are several steps you can take to address the problem of overthinking.

  • First, identify the thoughts that plague you and challenge them. Ask yourself if your idea is rational and evidence-based. If not, try replacing it with a more positive and realistic idea.

  • Second, practice mindfulness. Mindfulness is a great tool for reducing stress and anxiety. It's about focusing on your thoughts, feelings, and actions, without judgment or criticism. By practicing mindfulness, you are less likely to be aware of the present moment and be involved in past regrets and future concerns.

  • Third, look at things from different angles and look at things differently. For example, if you're worried that your partner may stop loving you for no good reason, put yourself in their place and think about what they think and feel. That way, you're less likely to be selfish and unnecessarily worried.
