Interesting highlights and records of IPL - 2024

As I promised yesterday IPL Update, here I am with some interesting highlights and crazy records in this season. It's after 52 matches out of 70 and Rajasthan is at the top with KKR, LSG, and SRH behind. Most of the crazy stuff that happened in this season is associated with the batting. As I said, the tournament is a batting paradise from the start.

• Out of 104 innings in 54 matches,

170+ innings - 69
200+ innings - 31
250+ innings - 8 (from 2008-2023 - only 01). That's crazy, right?

• We witnessed some amazing batting performances in this season, especially from KKR and SRH. The openers of both teams, Head and Abhishek, Narine, and Salt from the two teams respectively made 100% use of the powerplay most of the time. It helps the teams to go for big runs.

• In match 08, SRH against MI, scored 277/3 surpassing, Royal Challengers Bengaluru's highest IPL score record of 263. Head scored an 18-ball fifty, Abhishek Sharma a 16-ball fifty, and monstrous Klaseesn with 80* (34).

Anyway MI ended of scoring 246/5 which is the highest second innings total and the highest total in a losing cause in an IPL match. Furthermore, it's the highest aggregate scored in an IPL match(523 runs), and also the number of sixes hit in this match was the most in any T20 match (Total – 38, Hyderabad – 18, Mumbai – 20)

• Anyway in a few days, all these records were renewed by SRH against RCB in the 30th match. They put a total of 287/3 with a 39-ball hundred from Head. It became the highest total in IPL, the second-highest total in T20 cricket, and the most sixes in an IPL innings(22)

As the reply, RCB scored 262/7. So, it became the highest aggregate in a T20 match(549 runs), most sixes in a T20 match (38), most boundaries in a T20 match (81 = 43 X 4s + 38 X 6s). Furthermore, it became the highest second innings total and the highest total in a losing cause, in both IPL and T20I matches.

• In the 35th match against DC, SRH wrote down yet another record in front of their name. Head and Abhishek got off to a flier, scoring 125/0 runs in the powerplay. It's the highest powerplay score in the IPL. It was a destruction and a carnage. Head's 84 off 26 is the second-highest score in the Powerplay in the IPL.

• 42nd Match against KKR and PBKS was yet another record-breaking game.

A total of 523 runs were scored in the match, KKR (261/6, 20 overs) & PBKS (262/2, 18.4 overs). PBKS registered the ** highest successful run-chase in IPL and T20I history.** They renewed the 6-hitting records once again, Most sixes in an IPL innings (PBKS - 24) and most sixes in a Men’s T20 match(42).

• There are many interesting innings and matches played in this season.

KKR defended 222 runs just by 1 run against RCB in the 36th Match
SRH defended 201 runs just by 1 run against RR in the 50th Match

• We saw some amazing hundreds from the players as well, while chasing big scores.

Marcus Stoinis - 124* runs off 63 balls against CSK while successfully chasing 210 runs.
Jonny Bairstow - 108* runs off 48 balls against KKR while successfully chasing 261 runs.
Jos Buttler - 107* runs off 60 balls against KKR while successfully chasing 223 runs.
