Maintaining personal hygiene and keeping my environment clean is my top priority. This is in line with God command that "God is clean and those worshipping him must be clean too". I am here to also participate in the season 15, week 3 contest on the topic"Challenges/
Solutions of World Waste Problem.
What do you think when you see someone throwing rubbish carelessly? ? |

The truth is, I totally frown and I am against improper disposal of rubbish and waste pollution in it entirety. This is so because i know the adverse effects it has on our health, wild/domestic animals and the ecosystems at large.

I my country (Nigeria), inline with the National Environmental Standards And Regulation Enforcement Agent (NESREA) Act 2007, those caught defaulting, wether individually or as a cooperate organization/company, will face the penalty of a fine of 1.000.000(one million)
And five(5) years imprisonment. But in the case of cooperate organization and company, there is an additional fine of 50.000 for everyday the pollution las
At your place, is waste used to increase income? What are the benefits of waste that can make money there? |

Yes, in the absence of strong environmental policies, a lot of people and privately owned companies in my place have seaze the opportunity and took it upon themselves to carry these waste away from the street and the host community usually pay certain amount of money.
Another way people have benefited from waste and have made income from it is what I called SCRAPAYS.
Scrapaying is a collection of scrap from the waste for recycling.

One of such scrap company is the PANTI(meaning waste). PANTI is co-founded by Boluwatife Arewa. They placed a pick -up order that collectors(individual who assemble the scrap direct from the waste dump site) gathers, they weigh the items on the pick-up point and pay the producers accordingly. This company at times make more than 1.3 million Nigeria naira.

In as much as people are making income from waste, I do not encouraging or indulge in dumping refuse carelessly in my environment. I have two waste bin... burnable and not burnable.
As the name implies burnable waste container are the things I can easily burn such as plastics/nylon. While the things I can not burn will be taking to proper place designated for waste by the environmental/sanitation law enforcement agency. This my waste bin is bagged with waste bag and tied up so that flies will not buzzed around.
Will the accumulation of large amounts of waste affect the comfort of people in your neighboring country? How did that happen? share your opinion |

Yes it will definitely affect the neighboring country. This so because most countries like Nigeria and Cameron are connected through both water ways and land. When the water are polluted with metric tons of plastic, and waterways are blocked it causes flooding in a country cutting across it neighboring country.
This passive attitude to waste management not only endangered public health but predisposes the environment to the effects of climate change. It also cut short a country means of lively- hood. This is also true because when the waters are polluted, it affects the fish in the river, at times fishes dies thereby reducing drastically the rate at which the fisherman catching fish.
Conclusively, waste pollution is one major aspect affect the world at large. It is fight that we individual have fight to combat waste pollution. Like it is done in most urban area, let every street have a large waste dump container, where everyone can go put there waste. Let us all in our little way stop waste pollution.

Yes, I really agree with your opinion because by polluting our own environment it can cause disease, especially to children and adults, the government in our country should punish or doubt people who throw rubbish carelessly, so that they don't throw rubbish haphazard again.
I see these people who dispose waste wrongly as dirty people who can't take care of their homes. Because you look good from home before coming outside. So when you are dirty inside, it shows outside and when you are clean inside, it shows outside.
Nigeria is very good at setting laws but to carry out the law is usually a problem. This
(NESREA) Act 2007, will not hold water in this country. Till today, people move freely disposing refuse at the wrong places and are not caught. I just wish one day it works,,, Success to you!
