• What would you plant if you were given a large area of ​​land?

If I were given a large area of ​​land, I would use it to plant chili plants. I would plant lots of chili seeds, be it cayenne pepper, red chili, and other types of chili.

I have planted chili with my husband next to the house. We always take time off to care for the chili plants that we plant in polybags.

Although I do it as a hobby, over time I have made gardening a pleasure to plant chilies, and all kinds of other plants such as ginger, turmeric, kale, mustard greens, and spinach.

• Why did you choose these plants/crops?

I like to eat spicy food. That's why I like to plant chilies. That's one silly reason☺️. But that's not it, it adds to my daily income. The demand for chili in my area is increasing, and cumulative household consumption is also increasing every year.

Now the price of cayenne pepper and red chili is expensive and it is very profitable for us chili farmers. For one kilo of cayenne pepper, it is estimated at 35,000 rupiah or 12.3 STEEM, and for red chili it reaches 40,000 rupiah or 14 STEEM on average per kilogram.

• How long does it take to ripen and harvest?

The time needed to harvest chili takes up to 2 to 3 months and can be harvested 15 to 18 times. For cayenne pepper plants, we can harvest for a period of up to 6 months or even more.

My husband and I have had experience planting cayenne pepper and thank God the chili plants we planted can survive for more than 1 year and have been harvested several times.

• What are the pests and diseases that commonly attack these plants/harvests. Also explain how to control them.

The pests that often attack chili plants in the field are the most:

- mites
This is a pest that attacks chili leaves which causes the leaves to become damaged and eventually fall off. To prevent this type of pest, we can spray Samite acaricide 135EC with promectin insecticide 18ec.

- agrotis ipsilon
This is a type of pest that disturbs chili plants that we have just transplanted for the first time. This caterpillar will eat the main stem of the chili tree until it breaks. To control this, turex WP insecticide is needed.

And chili plant diseases that often appear are:

- Antibacterial fusarium wilt disease
This is a wilting disease that occurs in the Generative phase, this requires kocide 77WP, this must be sprayed when it starts to flower.

- dumping off
This disease is caused by the phytium sp fungus that attacks chili plants when they are being sown. The prevention method is with Saromyl 35SD and spraying the systemic fungicide Starmyl 25WP when sowing and when transplanting with a concentration of 0.5 to 1 gram per liter.
