Hi guys, I want to share with you, my Culantro maticas or as I all know coriander, I will be explaining a little about coriander

What is coriander?

Coriander is a green herb with long, serrated leaves from America. It is widely used in Caribbean cuisine to flavor everything from a plate of rice to a chicken soup to a bean dish. It has a slight coriander aroma, but its flavor is stronger. Coriander is also used in several Asian countries, such as Vietnam and Thailand.

Other commonly known names are sawtooth coriander, serrated coriander, recao (Puerto Rico), chadron benee (Dominican Republic), shado beni and bhandhania (Trinidad and Tobago), coulante (Haiti), and fit weed (Guyana).

How to use

This herb is the soul of the Puerto Rican sofrito. It is commonly chopped and added to bean dishes, stews, and rice dishes. Mixed with garlic and onion, cilantro lends itself to great marinades and meat marinades, and is a great ingredient in seasonings like chutney.

Unlike cilantro, cilantro is generally not eaten fresh. It is mainly used to enhance the flavor of foods and, minced and sautéed with garlic and onion, it can be added to practically any dish.
