A los 14 años comenzó a recibir clases de pintura en la Academia de Juan del Castillo.
En el año 1645 contrajo nupcias con Beatriz Cabrera; ambos tuvieron once hijos, de los que sobrevivieron cinco.
Fue el pintor español con más reconocimiento internacional. Por eso sus obras eran muy cotizadas. Esto le permitió vivir holgadamente.
En 1660 fundó y presidió la Academia de Dibujo de Sevilla.
Su esposa fue su modelo para muchas de sus obras de la Concepción de María; también sus hijos fueron sus modelos para pintar ángeles y querubines.
Falleció el 3 de abril de 1682, cuando se cayó de un andamio mientras pintaba "Los desposorios de Santa Catalina". Para ese entonces tenía 65 años.
A continuación les presentaremos tres de sus obras para que usted escoja la que más los motive a escribir. La primera se llama: "El regreso del niño pródigo" (1666-1670), la segunda, "Niños jugando a los dados" (1665-1675) y la tercera "Tres muchachos (dos golfillos y un negrito" (1670)

At the age of 14 he began to receive painting classes at the Juan del Castillo Academy.

He was the Spanish painter with the most international recognition. That is why his works were highly valued. This allowed him to live comfortably.
In 1660 he founded and presided over the Seville Drawing Academy.

He died on April 3, 1682, when he fell from a scaffold while painting "The Betrothal of Santa Catalina". By then he was 65 years old.
Below we will present three of his works so that you can choose the one that most motivates you to write. The first is called: "The Return of the Prodigal Child" (1666-1670), the second, "Children Playing Dice" (1665-1675) and the third ** "Three boys (two urchins and a black boy"** (1670)
