NIKE CORTEZ

The Cortez model produced by Nike, which at the time of the creation of the shoe appeared under the name Blue Ribbon was developed by the trainer
and co-founder of Bill Bowerman and then sent for production at Onitsuka Tiger, from which Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman imported footwear.
Bowerman was the key to Nike's success because it was he who introduced all innovations and improvements to shoes in his garage.

The Cortez model was created by combining two Tiger models and stitching them on the tip.
The coach from Oregon put on lightness, durability and comfort. Cortés were made of suede and nylon and they were placed on a foam sole.
This shoe was prepared for the Olympic Games in Mexico City that took place in 1968.
Originally, in 1967, it was presented under the name Aztec, unfortunately the model of a competitive brand was named "Aztec Gold" and Adidas applied to the court to change the name of the shoe produced by Blue Ribbon.
The new name was Cortez. Why? The answer is simple: from the name of the Spanish conquistador, known from the conquest of the Aztecs and the occupation of Mexico in the 16th century by Hernan Cortes.

A court hearing with German Adidas was not the only one. The "fight" of Cortezy also rolled on the Blue Ribbon and Onitsuka Tiger lines when they started to produce Cortes under the Nike banner.
Eventually, Blue Ribbon won the case and they were allowed to use the name Cortez and Boston.

Cortez has revolutionized the approach to running. Suddenly everyone wanted to run.

It is interesting that this model appeared in the movie Forrest Gump where the main character in Cortez ran the entire United States.

To this day, the Cortez model is very popular, it has gained many new colors, so there is a lot to choose from.

Bowerman był kluczem do sukcesu Nike poniważ to właśnie on wprowadzał wszelkie innowacje i ulepszenia do butów w swoim garażu.

Cortezy zrewolucjonizowały podejście do biegania.
