Frank And Gladys Get Hitched As The Danger Increases

Howdy folks and greetings from the Great Plains of North Texas!

We're in a series about one of the best Texas Rangers to ever wear the badge, the great Frank Hamer, who was brought out of retirement to take down Bonnie and Clyde.

(And who temporarily went out of his mind in his choice of a wife)

Recap

In the last post the danger to Billy Johnson, Gladys's father, grew along with the anger of the elder Sims who tried to hire gunfighters to take out Billy and Frank, but that never worked out.

Frank knew that the chances of an assassination attempt was $100 percent so he was escorting Billy along with his brother Harrison and another friend of Frank so they had 3 heavily armed guards to protect Billy.

Today's story

During these months of court proceedings and trials Frank and Gladys had grown closer and closer. Being thrown together in dangerous situations and stressful times will do that to people, especially if they were already attracted to each other.

It was a strange pairing though. I mean, they were polar opposites.

Opposites attract

He was poor but she was rich. He was very reserved and quiet and didn't talk much but she was very talkative and assertive. He was humble and modest but she was extravagant and flamboyant. She was very small and petite but he was big and 6ft 2in.

About the only thing they had in common was their temper, they both had flash tempers.

Gladys's mom was NOT happy

The Johnson's were split about the situation. Billy Johnson admired and respected Frank but his wife Nannie didn't like him. She thought he wasn't good enough for her precious, high-maintenance daughter.

In fact, Nannie said that the minimally educated(he only went to school until 6th grade)ex-cowboy and drifting lawman who didn't have a pot to pee in, was not even close to being good enough for little Gladys. lol.

But to Gladys...oh my...Frank was her hero. He was strong, silent and steady...super stable and reliable.. and God never made no one more honest. He made her and everyone around him feel safe with his supreme confidence.

He was her rock and just what she needed in her young, messed up life. She was 26 and he was 33.

The alopement

Well, like or not like they were doing this thing. They left the kids with their grandparents and boarded a train for New Orleans(I'm sure because of how Gladys's mom felt) where they got hitched, had a short honeymoon, and came back to the ranch.

Sobering news for the Sims bunch

When they found out about the marriage their hopes of Frank eventually leaving were gone. They knew they had to kill both Frank and Billy if they wanted Billy dead because Frank was always with him.

Ol McUgly was not stupid. There's no way he was gonna face off with Frank by himself so he gathered 3 henchmen to help him take out Frank and Billy.

Well, it looks like a deadly confrontation is unavoidable. We'll see what happens in the next post.

Hey, I found a couple more fascinating(at least to me)vending machines!

This is very strange to me but in Japan they have vending machines with hunting trophies. You know, stuffed animal heads to show off that hunters mount on their walls.

But don't worry @lenasveganliving because these are plastic! I have no idea why the Japanese would want fake hunting trophies! Any ideas? They look fairly real:
