The curative powers of honey are well-known to many of us, and can be used for all kinds of medicinal purposes, from ingesting as food, dissolving in hot drinks, or applying topically to aid the healing of wounds.  Raw honey contains natural antibiotics and valuable enzymes.  Eating local honey can also help with seasonal allergies and alleviate symptoms.  For the benefit of its medicinal properties we should buy good-quality raw unpasteurised honey, as the pasteurisation process destroys these enzymes and renders it pretty useless as a medicine.  Look for the darker, cloudier, less-filtered varieties rather than light and clear... it's worth spending a few extra $ for good quality.

At this time of year many of us have a real good spring clean to freshen the place up.  After a good lot of sorting and dusting and re-arranging the furniture, it can be tempting to give rooms that 'finishing touch' of a pleasant smell.  However, before choking yourself in clouds of air-fresheners, take a moment to think what chemicals you're breathing in (and forcing the kids and pets to breathe in too).  It's really easy to make lovely-smelling and effective natural air-fresheners that will keep your house smelling beautiful and your lungs free from toxic chemicals!

Homemade Air-Freshener:

Mix 1 teaspoon vodka with 30 drops of essential oil (whatever fragrance you like) in a spray bottle (500ml / 16 fl oz) and shake.  Fill the bottle up with water and shake again.  There - easy!

Spending time around water can be really relaxing, whether by the sea, by a river, or even sitting beside a bubbling mountain spring.  For the last couple of centuries at least doctors have prescribed vacations to the sea or the countryside for rest and recuperation following illness, both physical and mental.  There's a good reason for that -  studies confirm close proximity to large bodies of water improves wellbeing, improves rest, improves sleep, and even looking at 'blue space' lowers levels of stress.  Amazing!  So, rather than wait for the doctor to send us to the seaside, let's stay one step ahead and try to spend time in or by water as often as we can.

You are now a well-known face among the vegan community here on Steemit, and have celebrated more than 30 weeks of your competition –  congratulations!  What inspired you to begin the Fruits & Veggies Monday Competition in the first place?

Before I joined the Steemit community I was a member of other monetary, although not very good, social media platforms where I was running this contest, mainly to promote veganism. My intention was to spread the awareness in non forceful way and that’s why I decided to focus on fruits and veggies.

Were you raised on a plant-based diet or is this a decision you made later on in life?  What lead you to veganism?

I was brought up in non vegan family and at the time I lived in Slovakia, I didn’t even know Vegan lifestyle existed...  I was vegetarian until 2011 and vegan since. Yoga, meditation, studying esoteric teachings and the influence of my yoga instructors changed the way I see the world and our place in the Universe. I became aware of the fact that we are very powerful beings and our daily choices are creating the future and they have also a significant impact on other living beings and the planet.  This is why we must transform to veganism, which is who we truly are to begin with.

What advice can you give to anyone considering a 100% plant-based diet?

For people who are ready to jump straight to a vegan living I recommend to do research first. One of the best places to start is PETA.org, nutritionfacts.org and forksoverknives.com.  I would also suggest yoga, meditation, consuming super foods, whole foods and raw foods as much as possible and taking good quality B12  supplement. Not to forget, join a vegan community locally, on Facebook and in our case Steemit, or elsewhere they feel most comfortable.

Thanks for the honor. Glad you loved the veganized Ceasar salad!

Oh yeah I LOVE this recipe! A wonderful combination of flavours, and the ingredients are widely available for anyone to make, so it gets an enthusiastic double thumbs up from me!

I love the recipe card graphic! There's just something so homey about seeing a recipe in that classic format. Great work once again my friend! I always enjoy seeing what you have put together. :)
