This Company Produces Synthetic Milk Without Use Of Animals - 100% Real Milk And 100% Vegan.

in #health8 years ago (edited)

The company is called Perfect Day and was founded two years ago by bioengineers Ryan Pandya and Perumal Ghandi after their dissatisfaction with traditional dairy industry and its ethical, social and environmental effects.

These are outstanding news for anyone who has tried to get off their dairy-based diet but has had a big difficulty doing so due to their intense dietary psychological addiction or habits.

Dairy industry is a source of serious animal cruelty. It is also environmentally unsustainable causing massive damage to our planet's ecosystems and therefore contributing to climate change.

So far, plant-based alternatives to cheese have had difficulties in replacing cheese's unique structure and ability to melt - they tend to turn to liquid in high temperature instead of melting.
Now, with this new, synthetic milk technology we may not need to worry anymore while we indulge on chocolate or cheese.

This technology uses process of fermenting strain of yeast (called Buttercup) to replicate cow's milk DNA, which in effect produces real milk proteins. Later, those milk proteins (whey and casein) are mixed with sugar, vitamins, minerals and water in order to produce lactose-free milk.
The whole process uses much less water than conventional milk, so is much more environmentally sustainable than traditional milk production.

Perfect Day Foods is based in San Francisco and has, so far raised $4 million from investors. It is planning to introduce their first product by the end of 2017.

Ew, I guarantee that has negative health effects.

Weird, but I may give it a try... for science..

Lets do it for science, Earth and animals :-)

I've been addicted to chocolate/vanilla organic soy milk lately, so I would give it a try.

It is nice but expensive :/
Not many vegans so not enough demand to put pressure on prices. Hopefully, this synth milk will change the industry.

The US's permissive stance on GMO should help that to happen - but you're going to have a lot of people saying it's not a good thing...

F them :-)

Dairy industry and farmers will be also likely to resist this technology by lobbying the governemnt... Sadly

Wishing you good luck with your milk product, dont know if it will reach the UK anytime soon but I'm sure it would find buyers :)

The sooner the better. Thanks!

Interesting. I'm assuming they could also make available without lactose for those of us who are lactose intolerant. There is no scientific reason preventing them it is a matter of cost.

I forgot to add there. It is lactose free! Let me edit it.

OK cool that makes sense because then everyone can drink it!

Interesting. This needs more delving into the got milk phenomenon :) Thanks for sharing this.

You are welcome :-)

Yep, super weird. Win the vegans, freak out all the anti-GMOers. I'm assuming their fancy little yeast has to be some kind of GMO, right?

Certainly the guys behind this product don't care about tinfoil hatters :-)
Neither do I :-) I'm looking forward to this product. GMO or not :-)

Who wants this if you can make milk naturally with nuts

I want this. As a vegan. and many other vegans too.
And no, you can't make milk with nuts. Nut, soya or rice milk is an imitation of milk.
You are not able to make proper cheese or higher with it. Current vegan cheese does not melt properly and has different taste. Those vegan milk alternatives are especially not very tasty with coffee.

And about "naturally"fallacy. Nut milk does not exist in nature. Nuts do. Same as yeast. To create nut milk, you need to process them. Then they also add other things to it to make it stable, not just water. Then they also fortify it with minerals.
