Craving This....

Gain Control Over Over Your Life

What causes cravings?

Cravings mean that the body is missing something and needs to fulfill that need.

As an example if you are craving sweets, you are not effectively burning fat, you are running on sugars instead (not healthy folks). Now that let's you know that there is an imbalance that needs to be addressed. As a side note, if youare burning fat, you really do not have those dang cravings.

Let's see how to get rid of them...

Sweets

By increasing the potassium levels in ourbody (via several cups of the right vegetables, cruciferous Kale, Broccolli, Spinach, Etc.)

Starchs

This signifies a vitamin B1 deficiency, hopefully through foods like: green peas, asparagus, brussel sprouts, pistachios, etc..

Salt

Now the body needs salt for carbon dioxide transport (breathing) and many other functions, however we need balance here. Sea Salt is oneofthe better sources as is Pink Himalayian... but for balance you need to increase the potassium as mentioned above. This is especially important for more active or athletic individuals.

Fat

If a person is craving fats, it is mainly due to the way the body is not absorbing fats efficiently. There may be an issue with their liver, gall bladder or even bile. What helps... Warm Water with Lemon Juice, avoiding sugar and processed food, eat cultured vegatables, etc..

Chocolate

This typically indicates the body needs more Seritonin....this can be aided with Magnesium. We can get this naturally in our diets with an increase in dark leafy vegetables (are you seeing a pattern develop?), nuts, seeds, beans, etc.

Sour

If you crave sour foods, it is indicative of a Choline deficiency. This effects sleep and wakefullness and can be found in Lemon Juice. You can develop this craving from a fatty liver issue as sour foods canreduce the fats in the liver.

Ice

Yes some folks even crave ice... usually if they have an iron deficiency. As an example pregnant women develop iron deficiencies and crave ice. So increase your iron intake (dark leafy vegetables like spinach), peas, beans etc..

Now of course there are more, like alcohol, caffine, etc... but they all indicate a deficiency that the body then craves.

So eating again is the remedy... but only when youeat foods with nutrients. Our modern food processing has stripped these nutrients and we are being served empty fillers instead.

Take charge of your health by gaining controlover cravings with real foods!

Another good article, thanks, @kyusho.

Though I did wonder why you didn't mention red meat or organ meats as good sources of iron? They would also give pregnant women more of some of the other nutrients they need, especially the organ meats.

Yes they do... but I was driving at a central theme in that vegetation has what we need and that it can also serve to stop those cravings that dieters often face. I was vegetarian for 15 years, prior to marrying a carnivore... headed back now.

Oh, ok, I see. I guess that's where you and I are philosophically different in our approach to whole foods. Although we can get a lot of what we need from plants, I think there are some nutrients we can't and some that are better from animal foods. But we are all different in our needs, so that needs to be taken into account too.

Yes and I grew up with a butcher as a father we ate a lot of meats and organ meats. Then I went vegetarian and never felt better, then back to meats (perhaps overdone in amount) and now heading back to non meats. I will however have the eggs and cheese, not too keen on other dairy though.

all in the stomach of the beholder.

Great read. Keep up the good work!

Hi @kyusho, I just stopped back to let you know your post was one of my favourite reads today/yesterday and I included it in my Steemit Ramble. You can read what I wrote about your post here.

Lovely post. Thoroughly enjoyed reading this article and so informative

Awesome, thanks for this. I was just wondering why @krazdang was craving chocolate all the time earlier tonight!

If I'm not totally incorrect, serotonin is produced by the adrenal glands and lack of it would be a symptom of adrenal fatigue?

This Just In from: pointofreturn.com

But elevated serotonin triggers the production of Cortisol and Adrenaline (Epinephrine), which is the body's natural reaction from the body to combat the excess Serotonin levels. This is what gives the boost or euphoric state that can last for a period of time. However, as Serotonin remains unnaturally high, the adrenals become fatigued and cause levels of Adrenaline to decline while the Cortisol increases. The adrenals become exhausted, which helps to explain the fatigue and other symptoms that many SSRI-Antidepressant users report.

Ok, so totally incorrect then. :)

Possibly adrenal fatigue... who is to really say without testing.

Great article, very informative!
Thanks for sharing this :-)

As always a pleasure.
