I Got A Kiss Today
It was the best kiss ever!
I saunter into the room and say a bright Good Morning! In the early days there was no response. After the passing of few days there would be the crack of an eye. Perhaps the opening of a gasping mouth would accompany the eye crack. Yesterday, there I was just as I had been the last 14 days....Good Morning! Wow, I got TWO eyes. Two eyes casting around, trying to locate the source of the voice. He couldn't actually focus on me, but his eyes weren't rolling to the back of his head as they had been previously.
"Hey, son! It's mom", I said to him in my normal, at home voice. As soon as I said the word 'mom' he pursed his lips to give me a kiss as he used to do when he would leave out before playing a gig. It took me by surprise and I was utterly delighted. I
thought that maybe it was a fluke and I would try it again later. It wasn't meant to be, though. His sedation was turned back on and he slept the rest of the day and evening.
The next day, which happens to be today, the same scenario played out. I now know that it was not a fluke and was an intentional action on his part.
He also smiled a couple times at appropriate moments and made a joke as much as a person in his condition could. The doctor was in and said I could talk with him, ask him questions etc. Doc said it would be comforting to Rodney to hear a familiar voice. I mentioned that he would like that but that he was really enjoying all the attention from all the pretty nurses. The doc busted out laughing and pointed for us to look at Rodney. That young man was smiling as wide as he had ever smiled before and he held it for a few seconds while we all laughed and said how fantastic that was. I am quite sure he was laughing on the inside :) He has a very well developed sense of humor and we laugh often.
Man it was a great day! Isn't it odd, how something like that can totally transform your idea of the best day of your life??? Yep...I got a kiss today :)

Thank you, thank you!!! He's making good progress. He said this morning that his nose hurts. I said what's the matter with it? He said 'take it out' When I told him it was his feeding tube, he said no, it's part of the motorcycle LOL O.o
Talking is very good!!!! He probably isn't going to remember much about the accident, if anything at all. Our brains have a way of protecting us and only allowing us to remember the trauma in amounts that we can handle or cope
with. Keep talking to him about funny things and positive things and what his friends are saying... you're doing a fantastic job and I think of you both often. ;)

Great to know he is awake and sitting up and seeing ok now, such an improvement. Has probably felt slow to you each day, but from the coma and post of only 20% of surviving was it to now, amazing!

Oh Michelle! I am simply in awe of the great powers that have brought him this far. It has been three weeks to the day that he was admitted. Some days are agonizingly slow and some days speed by quite fast. One day soon he will be talking an walking again, but until then I will take the sitting up for 15 minutes :D

Yes it is amazing how powerful healing energy is Tammy! That is part of my mission to spread this message, because life would be so much better for the whole world if more people were tuning in and using this energy to create good!
I'm sure the last 3 weeks have been quite an ordeal, lots of highs and lows and very stressful. I do hope you are releasing all the stress and filling with peace and stillness, I have to remind myself to do this after a stressful situation because we are so focused on just coping in the moment.
I'm excited to hear of Rodney walking and talking, but yes may you enjoy each small step of improvement on the way.

It really has been a tough time but like you say, it's full of highs and lows. The hurricane coming through during the last week was very stressful. I just got power back after 5 days without. I DO feel like I am breathing easier now that the imminent danger is over for Rodney. Just the long road to recovery, but I shall savor each step and it will be brighter due in large part to you! Thank you :)
Yes I'm sure the hurricane was unneeded stress on top of all the hospital stress and worry about Rodney. I did do a lot of energy work on the hurricanes, so good that is calmed and over and you have power back. The stress does linger if we don't actively release, so may you release all of that and feel peace.
Yes it will probably be a long haul for Rodney's recovery, but looking back and seeing the progress will make it easier, and enjoying each new positive.

Faith and the prayers of so many are lifting him up from the brink and he has made SO much progress. It leaves me very, very humble. I thank you so very much for your prayers and helping to gather even more people to pray for Rodney. I most likely will not be able to get to the show tonight, though just like last week, I may get there after the start. I am in central Florida and we have a hurricane going on, so I will know more as the day wears on. Once again, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. God Bless You!!

What an absolutely beautiful moment between the two of you. Now that he is getting better slowly but surely your presence is even more important. Many patients have said that it was the family that actually helped them to stay connected and to fight. You are such a powerful medicinal factor in his life right now and you must know how important you are. Use your beautiful spirit to give him the strength to fight each day to get better. There is no power greater than love. I have seen miracles and it does work!
It means a lot to Rodney having you there. But remember to take care of yourself too. Spending days in the hospital can be a drain on anyone. If you get the chance, re-energize by taking a walk in the warm sun or get fresh air by sitting outside and reading. Hospital air is re-circulated so I feel it is good to get fresh air once in a while. In fact, when Rodney gets better maybe some days he can get wheeled outside for a few minutes of fresh aid. In my research, patients got better when they got fresh air and the sun.

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful comments! I have started to breathe again after holding everything in for many days. It has been such an emotional roller coaster and I am enjoying the plateau that allows for the appearance of these small steps :) I am taking a break from the hospital today to deal with this hurricane. Rodney is safe at the hospital and his father is staying with him. It eats at me to not be at his bedside, but I must care for things here or there may be no place for him to come home to. I have been praying hard to shift that thing to the left and it has, over the last days. I need a clone lol

I'm glad that Rodney's father is also there to be by his side. You certainly have shouldered a big load for these past few weeks. I hope the hurricane shifts away too. It's been a very difficult year for everyone. Please be safe Tamaralovelace and most of all, please take good care of yourself. You have gone through so much and I would hate to see you get ill from all the stress and pain. My thoughts are continually with you and Rodney. I really appreciate any updates from you. Hang in there with strength and determination! And keep writing!!!!! :D
