#5 Gridcoin.ch faucet donation post

in #gridcoin6 years ago

Everything I collect with this post will be donated to the faucet!

Why donations are important

Gridcoin is growing recently and new users are joining every day. If a user wants to start mining he has to send a beacon which costs a small amount of Gridcoins. Even if the worth of the Gridcoins the users need is extremely small this is an obstacle for new users. A faucet helps new users to get started fast and completly for free. There is no need to signup or to beg for a donation.
Gridcoin has two faucets at the moment: 1, 2.
Both faucets have distributed large amounts of Gridcoin to the community. The operators pay for the Gridcoins themself. But faucets are important for the Gridcoin community so the community should support the faucets!

Past donations

This is the fifth post with which I hope to collect steem dollars to donate to the Gridcoin Switzerland Faucet. You'll find the other posts here: 1, 2, 3, 4.
Thanks to all the upvoters I was able to donate about 2051 Gridcoins to the faucet.

Newest donation

This is what I collected with the last post.

I traded the collected steem dollars on bittrex for bitcoin.

And then I traded the bitcoins for Gridcoins also on bittrex.

The Gridcoins are at the moment waiting on bittrex until I can withdraw them. The proof I sent them to the faucet address will be provided when available =) Hopefully in the next post.

Future ideas

I will make a post like this every 10 days or so when I find the time to do that. Everything I collect with this post will be donated to the faucet!

Hello @grider123

If a user wants to start mining he has to send a beacon which costs a small amount of Gridcoins.

This apply to people who use the grcpool.com mining pool or is the beacon only for solo users?

Solo only. A beacon is only required if you have a CPID, and pool users don't need to have a CPID.

Please will somebody create a foundation poll for grinder123 and www.gridcoin.ch ( setup ssl asap would help ) for 5000grc every 3 months just like how we did a vote on gridcoinstats.eu for 20k quarterly ( look in poll history ). Although it is not a block explore as we have enough of those with gridcoinstats and neuralaminer.io ( how egotistical to use his nick for his site ) it is a value added asset to Gridcoin for new users whom do not want to be forced to use grcpool in order to start out like the other faucet. This is a site that WILL bring new users to the community/team and help the growth of the project vs the other faucet being only open to current users forcing them to join grcpool. Yes it would need a 20% vote weight volume and a yes but grider123's contribution is something that should be recognized and rewarded and it would be not just rewarding him but the communities new and current users alike. I know , I know team 90% of you wont use a website unless there is SSL and that should be implemented either by his hosting service or himself but that is simple and takes only a few minutes to setup and OVH out of Canada ( they can/will even do it for you ) is not a cheap service for a VPS or dedi so he picked a very secure top tier hosting provider far better than digital ocean the only provider gridcoin.us promotes and far better than if it was hosted at home like many boinc projects. His chosen host also has a very robust pipeline and is in the top 5 vps/dedi hosting choices out there. Please help support his site and efforts to expand and encourage growth from other new people joining our community to setup websites too and help the growth of Gridcoin as a whole. Remember , this is out of his pocket as the foundation/community does not pay people for users ideas to implement and put up a website this is 100% his donated time and money just to put the website up in the first place. Thank you grider123 for your work , time and efforts and I look forward to up-voting every post you make and I am happy to help in any way I can and continue to ask you to build onto your site and I applaud you for donating everything from your posts to the community! What a team player!

Gridcoinstats does not get 20k quarterly. I assume you're talking about this poll. This was a one time thing and does not renew quarterly.

Gridcoinstats also does not force people into the pool, there isn't even any mention of the word "pool" on the faucet page.

That is true. Hot air has been much lately.
