Steemit Greeters Guild! Come one, come all!
I just wanted to take a moment and tell you all about the Greeters Guild! This is a fantastic group of wonderful people who help to greet newcomers into the Steemit platform.
Remember when you first started Steemit? It was a little scary, a little different than your regular social media. There werent post after post of selfies or a basic breakdown of peoples day to day activities. No, there were real people, writing real things and making money from it. Its all exciting and new but where do you start? The introductory post (introduceyourself or introducemyself tags) was meant to show the platform what youre working with, what youre passionate about and who you are. This is where the Greeters Guild comes in. We show up to the posts that do just that and send out a warm welcome and an offer of assistance. I decided that among the other great groups Im a part of (@newbieresteemday, @asapers~ Also great groups whose main purpose is to help newbies grow and prosper!) that this too would be one that I could benefit from, not only through Steemit but by the joy of helping others. So I became a scout!
I came across this group after meeting a guy that goes by @terminallyill. Hes our leader in the Discord group. He has showed me how much joy there is in giving someone a proper welcome and helping them to grow. Ive watched someone that goes by @mirrors, from her introduceyourself post, to now, when she got noticed by @Curie. Shes been here 2 short weeks and is already at a reputation of 46. She had it in her from the beginning, I saw it loud and clear. She wrote with grace. Without having some wonderful people giving her the push in the right direction, she may not be where she is now. Congratulations @mirrors, you are one hell of a writer and deserved that Curie recognition! Everyone should go show her some love!

Well as long as @smylie2005 says its a great group i am on board, besides i like the idea of helping newbies. I remember coming on steemit and being so uncomfortable i didn't make an introductory post for almost two weeks. I felt out of place. Thanks @terminallyill for the nice initiative.

Nice post @smylie2005! I too think @greetersguild, @newbieresteemday, and @asapers are awesome groups to connect with when you're starting out, and also when you get to know the members, everyone grows and supports each other. It's a beautiful thing!

There should put up somewhere when you start here links like this post or link to groups that you can check and join. I agree it is overwhelming when you start here. The FAQs are helpful but it is a huge difference if the users themselves welcome new ones. Newbies will not even know where to start and where to look. That's why I admire these kinds of initiatives and communities because they help new people start somewhere.
For sure! If I had known of @newbieresteemday when I started... I believe they had just started the group, I wouldve had a big jump from the beginning. The @greetersguild is even more recent. These two together really help the community of new people get settled in and helps them to fly. Such a wonderful initiative they both are. @asapers is also amazing, if you havent looked into them, please do!
I sure will. There are lots of groups here that I only come across by accident. Most are referred by others.
