Graffiti in Munich #7 - The Beer Factory

It's been three weeks since my previous post in this series, and following up on the last couple of huge posts, I'll resume this series with a look at something simpler.

The reading on the wall says "Paulaner Munchën."

Here's a close-up shot of this mural.

My first glance of this artwork was this, as I was descending the stairs coming from the nearby Cathedral. It certainly grabs one's attention.

This piece can be found at the facilities of Paulaner am Nockherberg which is a famous restaurant in Munich.

It's a well known place because monks began brewing beer at this location in 1634, which was a monastery at the time.

Back then, the beer was only available to monks and it was only in 1780 that the beer hall opened to the public. The monastery closed in 1799 and much later, in 1994, the name changed to Paulaner-Keller.

Nowadays, this spot is known as Paulaner am Nockherberg or simply as “Nockherberg” in reference to the hilltop where the beer hall, the beer garden and also the Paulaner Brewery is situated.
