What's eating @funbobby51's grape tomatoes?

So things have been going pretty great in the garden, I found this giant carrot I didn't plant this year so that's pretty great.

We had a lot of rain last week so I found some uninvited visitors on my grape tomatoes, looks like all the rain caused some of the tomatoes to split and also enough moisture for the slugs to take advantage of.

I'm not too worried about them, there were plenty of tomatoes that were fine and I am sure as soon if the rain lets up for a few days that things will dry out and go away. If I find slugs again I will put out some trays of beer. Here is another recent harvest:

All the eggplants I have harvested so far have come from the same plant that I started from a transplant, at the same time I started a 4 from seed and they are now taller than transplant but I have been harvesting fruit from that for weeks, the first fruit on the ones started from rotted out and fell off but the rest look like they are OK, anyone have a good baba ghanoush recipe?

All right! I am not sure what baba ghanoush is, but my wife and I did try eggplant pizza last year!

We have had some incredibly gross success with the beer bowls and the slugs. Only do that if you want to realize how many slugs there really are. Otherwise, just borrow a duck and you can elimate them all without ever knowing just how many there were.

Cheers, thanks for linking me!

it's a middle eastern eggplant based dip, was eggplant pizza just eggplants on a pizza or was there more to it?
Pizza is a good idea, my wife breads them and fries them up and it's delicious but I am about to have a lot of it, I'll toss some on a pizza shell.

I don't have any ducks handy but I do have some beer in the fridge, I was already pretty shocked by how many slugs were on the tomatoes after the wet weather, several had 2-3 on them. The beer tray works well if the sunshine doesn't take care of them, I turned the sprinkler off.

I guess it was just eggplant on a pizza lol.

Keep up the great work, I'm having trouble keeping up this week but I'm glad I met you! You are fun Bobby!

Thanks, eggplant on a pizza works for me, I might actually be able to pull that off!

That’s a nice little harvest. I really need to make some planters for all the concrete around my house. I found this guy on the curb the other day. I believe it likes tomatoes too.

all of that above but the tomatoes is in containers. is that a caterpillar of some sort?

Yeah, it’s some kind of caterpillar, about 3 inches long. I’ve never seen one like this before.

I left a bunch of milkweed growing in one bed so I have done my part, it got covered with eggs.

You can't fool us, @funbobby51 is the one eating these Tomatoes; He is just blaming these poor slugs!
:D

The slugs eat some, I eat some and the rest rot in that bowl on the counter until I throw them out and pick some more.

Run them through a food processor with the peppers and some onions, add a little cilantro, put the in a warm place and burp them a couple of times a day. You will have some of the best fermented Salsa you ever ate. :D

it would be the only fermented salsa I ever ate!

It would keep in the refrigerator for momths; but it would not last that long, LOL. :)

I planted onions, tomatoes and peppers with the idea of making salsa but I forgot the cilantro.

Nobody is perfect, Off to the market, ROFLOL! Enjoy the Salsa! Doug and Stacy on youtube has a lot of good how to videos on fermentation, including Salsa.

They always have good information, and I trust them 100%! :D
