Any Steemian here playing Path of Exile? (POE for short)
If you loved Diablo or any other mmorpg /dungeon crawler game, you will definitely fall head over heels with this one. As described in their website: "Path of Exile is an online Action RPG set in the dark fantasy world of Wraeclast. It is designed around a strong online item economy, deep character customisation, competitive PvP and ladder races. The game is completely free and will never be "pay to win".
I am a beta player of POE so i am quite knowledgeable about the game . POE was officially released on October 23, 2013. The hype was real, as Path of Exile was named 2013 PC Game of the Year by GameSpot and best PC role-playing game of 2013 by IGN. Imagine it was just officially released 2 months before the start of 2014.
The greatest thing about this game is that you are not bound by your character class. No default skills per class, YOU CAN USE ANY SKILL THAT YOU WANT!!! (to be discussed later) But they are inclined on 1 or a mix of 2 (except Scion class which all 3) of the 3 base stats in the game: Strength, Dexterity & Intelligence. With the dawn of The Ascendancy expansion pack last March 4, 2016, you have now access to three ascendancy classes for each base class, except the Scion which has only one ascendancy class.
MARAUDER - Strength
RANGER - Dexterity
WITCH - Intelligence
DUELIST - Strength/Dexterity
TEMPLAR - Strength/Intelligence
SHADOW - Dexterity/Intelligence
SCION - Strength/Dexterity/Intelligence

1. The Skill Gems
2. The Extensive Passive Skill Tree
THE SKILL GEMS
In Path Of Exile, we make use of these wonderful shiny trinket called SKILL GEMS. These gems will ultimately define your character as you progress deeper in the world of Wraeclast. These gems are needed to be placed on their appropriate color socket (red - strength, green - dexterity, & blue - intelligence) in order for the skill to be active. I will give you a short & simple overview of the gems available in the game. They are just a basic rundown of the skill gems in the game. They are far from complete & detailed. Do check out the link mentioned above for a more comprehensive explanation. :)

PASSIVE SKILL TREE

Oh no no no, you are not looking at some alien symbols or ancient artwork. Yes that is the passive skill tree.
No other game has this huge & vast skill tree. Nothing can be compared to this. It's an extensive network of passive skill nodes that will hugely affect your character. You gain skill points through leveling up & completing certain quests.
YOU BUILD YOUR CHARACTER WHATEVER YOU WANT IT TO BE.
The possibilities are endless. You can focus on your aligned attributes or build an exotic character. Make a witch that swings her axe hard, or a marauder dishing out lightning bolts everywhere.
Your choice, your rules.

Been done with moba games like dota 1&2 and LOL. 2 things in moba games, you have a crappy team or you enemy is too pro. Hahaha... :) Well i will make an honest review of those moba games someday :)
Like using more theorycrafing and my brain in mmorpgs. Quite challenging yourself in these type of games :D

Thank you @yukimaru. I saw this game of a steam special not too long ago, but was not really sure what to make of it. I am glad to see that the developers has put in place such a massive skill tree.
I hate how most developers are making games more dumbed down for newer or younger players. I loved games with more of a challenge. Might give this game a chance when I see it on discount again.

Ok will have a look at home, maybe Steam just showcased the game and I mistook it for one of their discounts. The last few weeks of winter, I did not use my Steam too much since I was catching up on some series and chilling under blankets. Only briefly checked out for sale items.

The game is free to play, but if you have few bucks to spare, you can get cosmetic items to pimp out your character. No extra stats or buffs whatsoever. Never pay-to-win. ;)

I am from South Africa and still winter at the moment. It's normally not too cold here, but started snowing on the Drakensberg last week so had a few cold days. It's already feeling much warmer today.
Your place sounds like a MMORPG game when you think about it. ;)
You should try it asap. I love the freedom it gives you. Makes you feel you are really control of your character. No fixed skills or stats whatsoever. And the graphics is sooooo goood... :)

No bro, it's the same concept as Diablo. The dungeon crawler games. And its much more better in my opinion. :)

Yes, you can stick to one or try several, till you find one that suits you. I think gaming is still fresh on steemit though there are many gamers here but the niche is still fresh. Relate with them in the discord too. You have to expand your horizon when it comes to people too. Read my last two posts if possible and read between the lines!
I'm honing my english proficiency skills for a better Steemit experience. I get nosebleeds from excessive use of english. Hahaha.. :)
I was never a writer or a blogger, but i'm willing to learn a lot. I'm into discord and i'm still getting a hang of it. Gotta be diverse in my content till i find a sweet spot. And also to adapt in this crypto times.
Yes, you dont have to be a blogger. the beauty here is in steem. When you tap into that bringing in vision and enterprise, you move really fast. Plus, flaws are better. Kingscrown makes it with typos. He acknowledges he doesnt spell well but he is known for that. Just be plain and let's people connect to you. Work to impress your own self and others will be drawn in Expand your horizons. World standard!
Haha. I am glad to see that Steemit is not full of those "grammar police" type people.
I am still fairly new and have not posted to many articles yet, since I am still learning. I do however type my posts in Microsoft Word and copy it into Steemit and do formating afterwards.

Yes, your spelling and grammar and formatting will improve over time! Talent will still shine through whether you have good grammar or not. I also think there is a discord that helps with grammar. I can't remember if it whaleshares or pal. Either gmuxx or drpuffnstuff handles that.

It has been a fun rollercoaster ride indeed. The ups & downs makes the Steemit community such an awesome experience. And less drama here other the other platforms. ;)

How long did you play the game? Don't you get tired/bored of games that do nothing but just kill groups of mobs one after the other?

There is a beauty in the skill builds and of course the humongous passive skill tree.
In high end maps, good luck just killing group of mobs. Especially with modified maps. No facetank when you can get one hit deleted and your character removed forever in the game. ;)
