PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds owes its modest genius to its simple rules. Together with a maximum of 99 others, you jump from an airplane above a large, delimited area. Once you have landed, you must quickly search for firearms that can be randomly generated in buildings. The game area - indicated by a blue circle - gradually shrinks in the direction of a white circle marked on the card, so that all players are driven towards each other. You, or your team, must be the last to win. That is easier said than done.

PUBG's rules involve many tactical issues in an organic way. In this way, players often avoid the houses whose doors are open. If that happens, your health will gradually return. In the beginning, the damage is not so bad, but as the circle shrinks further, a stay outside the blue circle is dead after just a few seconds.

If you have the courage to approach a red Care Package, you can always count on action. When you are robbing such a box or when you hear footsteps unexpectedly, the blood already freezes in your veins, but that tension does not fall in the deafening heartbeat as soon as you reach the top ten. You will not be the first to wake up the whole house with a triumphant roar when you see the words 'Winner Chicken Dinner'.

1.0, but not finished

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has made huge progress during a relatively short period in Early Access - developers of DayZ, are you watching? - but the 1.0 indication that the game is now wearing is not entirely deserved. The game is indeed much smoother than a few months ago and the hilly desert landscape of Miramar is a good contrast to the maritime climate of the island of Erangel. On the other hand there are several bugs that have been known for some time and an initial phase that suffers from connection problems. Do not be surprised if you run behind a wall to seek cover and a load of hail still finds your body. The cause has been established, but an official release prior to the lucrative Christmas days obviously weighed heavier.

The sound quality in PUBG is excellent if you judge the sounds individually. The sound also distorts in a realistic way depending on the distance and the environment in which the bulkhead is unloaded. However, the positioning of the sound is utterly miserable. Shots in the view of the player are usually correct, but outside of them there is only left, right and back. Whether someone is running above or below you in a building is all gambling. Even more disturbing is that sound even falls away when the source runs in front of you. Being able to hear where your opponent is located is crucial in a game like PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. Brak directional sound is then difficult to cope with in a 1.0 version.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is a source of anecdotes, as well as unexpected and spectacular firefights and nail-biting decouplings. The deceptively simple game concept organically leads to a wide range of strategies and situations to apply them.
