How Video Games Bond These Couples in Marriage

in #gaming6 years ago (edited)

It's that day again. The day that you do/give something special to your partner. A great day to propose to your loved one. Valentine's day. Do you have any romantic plan for your partner? But still related to video game, something like these gamers did, brought real life romance and express their love to their loved one through video game.

I like the sound of that. That is romantic as it is awesome... in gamer way. Me? No. I'm the kind of person who liked romance but don't know how to talk about romance. But for you, maybe these people will give you an idea of a sweet romantic surprise.

Gaming will likely affect your everyday live including outside of game, even your love life. But who knew if you would find your soulmate, or getting a sweet surprise that brought you to marriage from video game. Well, I just hope the marriage last forever. Here's the stories..

They Were a Good Team in Overwatch, Now They Are a Good Team in Real Life

In late December 2016, when a D.Va main played Overwatch to escape her misery of a bad-ending relationship, she met a Reaper main and worked together as a team. Was it led them to victory? Better. It led them to marriage. Prentice Gauthier, the Reaper main, met Katt Morris from a match in Overwatch. As simple as the story go, Prentice managed to brought their relationship to a higher level.

Katt was used to being "hit on" by guys online, they would invite her to play together because... you know, a pretty woman who is a gamer, what's better than that? But Prentice gave her a different image when he asked if she was okay. Katt was impressed by Prentice's considerate personality.

It only took two weeks of getting closer and to know each other, and Prentice confessed her feelings towards Katt. Prentice decided to sell his PS4, including Overwatch and his other games for a 4500 miles away flight from Lousiana to Liverpool. If you think two weeks is quick enough, guessed how many days it took for our Reaper main to propose Katt... only two days.

Out of 6 Romance Options in Stardew Valley, This Guy Chose the 7th

The 7th romance option I'm talking about is his fiancée, who is also play Stardew Valley. With the newly implemented multiplayer feature in Stardew Valley, you could marry other players and that's exactly what Adam Stevens did. Except he is the one who is getting married, not the character.

His fiancée Vana Springer posted a screenshot that of the best day of her life on Stardew Valley subreddit a month ago, showing what appears to be Adam's character standing on a field tiled in such way to spell the question. And it made an instant 8 hearts event, if you catch my meaning.

The surprise was intended to be more sweet than that. Adam planted tulips on the tiled grounds for his fiancée to walk in and see it when the flowers has bloom. Unfortunately, Vana came home early than he expected and Adam got no choice but to proceed to the next step, which is down on one knee and asked the question.

Now, if you think the plan was ruined because of the late flowers, this romantic Redditor leave a heartwarming comment that makes it sounds like nothing was failed. After all, Vana feels no disappointment from it.

This..

"Jeff Kaplan Proposal Pack", When Loot Box Becomes the Cutest Thing

The name suits this one best. It sounds like the name of a DLC Pack. Except this DLC Pack is neither free not cost you money. It cost a great effort... of a man named Chris Estrada, who earned this gift that was gifted special for him and his girlfriend (back then), Dominique.

From loving both his woman and Overwatch, the idea of getting Overwatch featured in a marriage proposal sounds cool enough, but Chris did something bigger than that. Through much effort, Chris managed to get the vice president of Blizzard for the surprise, which is delivering the engagement ring. Better yet, the "thoughtfully chosen" ring even came with a custom-made Overwatch loot-box miniature.

Never thought the most despised feature in video game could be so romantic, do you? Chris brought Dominique to Blizzard Headquarter and Dominique thought it was for a tour. Turns out, Jeff Kaplan walked up to her, and handed over a loot box with a gift of a lifetime inside.

Their Second Quest is Marriage

This one may be old, it is from waaay back in 2011, but the romantic story of this proposal through a Zelda game is still echoing until now. Amber, who's been in a relationship with her boyfriend for 6 years since this proposal, step onto the next level of their relationship on 11 November 2011, at 11 p.m.

For other gamers, the unique one of a life time date 11/11/11 might reminds about the release of Skyrim, but for Amber that day would be remembered as the most beautiful day of her life. So her boyfriend been spent some times with his roommates to finish the old The Legend of Zelda, and secretly hacked the game for the sweet proposal.

That night, Amber got suspicious when her boyfriend took her to dinner in a fancy French restaurant when 11/11/11 wasn't a particularly special day for them. When they went back to her boyfriend's apartment, her suspicions was answered when her boyfriend asked her to play the Second Quest, in which the game has been hacked as you can see above.

Amber burst in happiness when she looked over her fiancé who was already kneeling with the heart-shaped ring box made of lego, as you can see above too. If that's not the most awesome, elaborate, and nerdy way to propose your fiancée, I don't know what is.

Some of these may be simple things to do, way simpler than the ones with effort that could fall short and sounds like it likely will. But, in the right time, with the right choice, if you can portray your sincerity in what you make or what you do, even simplicity wouldn't make it less special.

Thanks for stopping by, Steemian!

.. meanwhile I just planned on playing some games together with my girlfriend like Cuphead or Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime (highly suggest checking these out!) These guys are really raising the bar lol.

Good read, appreciate these romantic stories in gaming. I wish them all the best. I've seen some people with similar stories of meeting their significant other through the gaming. I've seen posts with people in MMO's like World of Warcraft getting married in-game and even 12+ years ago was in a couple of Runescape weddings. (one random one and one of clan-mates who apparently got married shortly after the game version lol)

Even more recently, I have friends on Xbox Live who have met the person they're seeing today on games, a few even traveling across the country and even out of the country to see their significant other, or those who are just starting to date after playing together for a while. This is becoming a lot more common today and less taboo, and hey if it works for them, more power to them!

Whether its knowing the person for months/years in a Guild together or like the first story where it only took two and a half weeks, love can be found just about anywhere.

Oh, that cute coop space battle game? Good choice. Just playing games together is not a bad idea if both of you are happy with it. Maybe you too will have this kind of way to propose your girlfriend someday, but not now, and when you do.. Best of luck, man. ;)

Woah, I didn't know there was that many people who got married this way, from online games meeting. Last time I heard something like fallen in love with some stranger you met online, online game in particular, most people might laugh at you and maybe even think that you're so desperate. But, I say most people who think that way missed the "getting to know" part. When two strangers have gotten to know each others well enough, they are not "strangers" anymore, am I right?

It's not like we purposefully go to online games only to find a gf/bf. But when you do find one and even go to the next level, marriage, then that'd be the sweetest thing a gamer can get.

i love your posts always checking to see whats new with you :D , cheers hun .. Oh by the way on all my posts i give you a mention to get people to pop on over xx hope all is OK looking forward to the next post
