Big Daddy Get Creepier in This BioShock Demake

Old games being reworked and modernized, or as we all know.. remaster? We have many remastered games from the studios already and who knows what else will be remastered in 2018 and the next. But what if it's the other way around, demake? Highly downgraded version of modern games. 

That's what a YouTuber named Toni--with an "i" not a "y", yo!--in his channel called 98DEMAKE do to modern games. I made a post about this channel months ago, but now I decided to write about this again after I watched one 98DEMAKE's latest video, which is showing a demake of BioShock called "If BioShock was made in 1998". And I'm happy to write this again for those who don't know about this yet.. but yeah, the BioShock thing is the primary reason..

Doesn't look so great to you? Well, this demake of modern video game that 98DEMAKE made is not to be judged by its final quality like that. It's a "What if" sort of video, showcasing how certain video games would look like if they were made back in the day, or back in 1998 and 1992, to be precise.

The creator don't say this, but I'm thinking the purpose is to answer one's curiosity, "What if this game was made in 1998? How would that game look like if it was a PS1 game?" So the accurately older the quality is, the better his recreation is. 

As you can see in the video, not only the graphic that is being downgraded, but everything about the game including the SFX, the UI, and the animation. The necessary props are still there, like the posters, a corpse, and a broken robot on the floor, but the details and how much objects that make the ruined Rapture are greatly minimized.

The first time I played BioShock the Big Daddy's growl was creepy enough for me, and it gets creepier in that low quality sound effect. And if that's not enough to fulfill its purpose to be a game that were released back in the day, 98DEMAKE also made the CD case of it, full with the description you'd normally see on a CD case. 

98DEMAKE been doing demakes of a couple of video games already and looks like he's still doing it. There's also a different type of similar videos he's working on that showcases the demake of games and how they would look like if the games announced back in the day.

The Last of Us, The Evil Within, Fallout 4, GTA V, and a handful of other games has demaked by 98DEMAKE. But is this a full video game rework project? No. As far as the guy work on it with Photoshop and Blender, to making the CD case as well, this is all are just "What if" videos.

He do the demake entirely without coding, meaning the reworked games are not playable and are only animations made in Blender. The guy don't plan to make a playable demake because he don't want to deal with legality problem. That's a good call, I think. But who knows if someday he just can't hold the urge to make one and ended up making one. If there's a game you'd like to see the demake version, 98DEMAKE do take requests, but won't always do the requests because.. well, you know, different games different difficulty to make.

I don't know if this guy is just so bored or something, but this is an interesting stuff he's been doing since June 2017. I wish the video was longer than that, though. I'd love to see more of how the cutscenes would look like.
