A New Steemit Initiative for Community Involvement - The Daily Steem Poll Project - Introduction Post
I really enjoy projects that involve collaboration among Steemians. I am starting the "Daily Steem Poll" initiative to collect input from the community on various topics. I also plan to encourage participation by sharing part of the author reward!
Objectives:
- Provide a framework for Steemians to interact with each other in a fun way on a daily basis
- Collaboratively produce quality content that has the potential to attract new people to the site
- Create a project where newcomers can easily get involved and earn contribution rewards by sharing their thoughts on various topics
- Earn more SP and increase my followers - just being honest ;)
Logistics:
- Each day I will create a new "The Daily Steem Poll Project" post
- The post will ask the community for input on some question/topic
- Members of the community can comment and discuss the question/topic
- Members of the community can also suggest new potential questions/topics for future posts
- I will pay everyone who contributed to the discussion out of the SBD author rewards from the post
The SBD author payout will be split as follows:
- 20% will be paid to the person who thought of the idea for the post
- 20% will be used to boost the next day's Daily Steem Poll post
- 50% will be divided equally among every user that contributed to the conversation in a meaningful way
(Any comment that contributes to the discussion will be counted as participation.) - 10% will be kept as author payout
- I will round amounts up/down by .01 when needed, to divvy up the whole amount in as fair of a way as possible.
Example topics that will be used as future posts:
- What is your favorite Sci-Fi movie?
- What is your favorite Steemit category to browse?
- Who is your favorite Steemit author?
- What is your favorite Anime?
- What is your favorite book?
For the introductory post, the poll question is:
What are more good questions to ask as future Daily Steem Poll topics?
This is a great idea for engaging the SteemIt community.
For a question:
"What would you do with 10,000 SBD?"
"What would you do if you could do anything?"
Steem on,
Mike
I selected one of your questions for the first post :)

Great idea, congratulations.
May I suggest a topic for one of the future polls? It is in line with your first suggestion and a question I wanted to ask anyways.
What Sci-Fi TV series do you recommend for regular viewing?
It has to be on air now and it has to be a space / starship series.
No planet bound postapocalyptic zombie catastrophe supernatural stuff, please.
Just plain old space opera :)
TNX!!!
Question: What content niches still need to be filled on Steemit?
Great idea, I'll look forward to your posts.
Question: What country are Steemians from and what is the best and worst thing about living there?
I used your idea in today's Daily Steem Poll! You will be receiving 20% of the SBD from the author payout :)

Steemit is a very supportive community. My proposed questions are:-
4.Your most memorable experience on steemit
5 What features you think should be included in steemit
I selected one of your questions for the topic of today's post :)

Thank you so much for selecting my topic. I hope that your article will do well
I used another one of your questions :) I will probably end up using all of these, hehe. They are really good!

Here's a question in service to #projectnewbie: What are some creative ways to verify your account, beyond posting a photo holding a sign?
One I experienced personally: If you tell a friend about Steemit and she says it's not right for her because she can't write well, what suggestions do you have? What else could she post on steemit?
@shenanigator - btw great work on creating the Steemit FAQ! @sykochica has started up a great initiative called #steemprentice that's a really helpful resource for new users - I think it would be a really good place to help your friend get started. A bunch of other like minded helpful people have joined her. They have a channel over in steemit.chat (#steemprentice). Link to one of her recent updates: https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@sykochica/steemprentice-first-update-report-9-10-2016 . I think there is another group that's been recently started as well, but I can't remember it at the moment.
I checked out that project suggested by @applecrisp. That is a great initiative. Hopefully that will help your friend, as well as other new members who are in a similar situation.
One thing that I found is that posting is not always the best way to get involved at the start. I had a lot more fun at the beginning reading other people's posts that I was interested in, and commenting when I had something to respond. You don't have to be an excellent writer to be able to contribute good comments to someone else's post :)
This 'Daily Steem Poll' topic should hopefully help with new member involvement as well. One of the main objectives is for this to be a daily post, so that new users can be pointed to it and make a contribution. The topics should be 'easy' enough, that anyone should be able to add something to the discussion and share in the rewards from the overall post payout.
FYI - Out of the $1.26 SBD payout, .63 SBD was divided equally among everyone who participated. Thanks for your contributions!
