Natal Sand Frog

This little guy sounds more like a bird than a frog

In this clip I found on the net, you can hear the high pitched pip-pip-pip of the Sand Frog in the foreground and the Guttural Toad (the one you don't want to lick) in the background.

You don't see them much, as they don't come around houses as much as the larger toads, but you definitely hear them.

These guys are of the smaller frog species and their most common enemies are vehicles and snakes.

An exclusive frog eater is the night adder seen here below swallowing the last of its foggy meal.

Its quite a tight fit, but believe it or not, it will all go down the hatch and be fully digested, skin and bone, in just a couple of days.

Amazing, great photos, thank you very much for the data dear friend @gavvet

You get used to it... all night, night after night

Yup, head out in the cool summer evenings close to water at my place and that's all you hear.

@gavvet kippenvel van de last foto
ayayayaayy heel eng de slang

hierdie slange is nie so erg nie.

@gavvet hahaah ah zo - doof eigenlijk :D
dank je wel

That last picture deserves a

burp

LOL
I have similar sounding frogs but don't think the Natal Sand Frog is indigenous to Florida -- maybe a close relative because the "chirping" I hear is very similar.

the burp comes later...
