5 Minute Freewrite - Prompt: Awakening

in #freewriting7 years ago (edited)

This will be another rant-ish one... about drugs... again...

Spirituality always comes to my mind from awakening. I don't know where to start unravel my thoughts about spirituality other than I'm interested in human mind and psychedelics. It's a shame they are so hardly available or rather they are so uneducated topics. I mean c'mon; you can buy fucking alcohol, which is a drug like any other, and kill yourself with it. And then consuming some mushrooms or a plant is illegal. No rational whatsoever in drug policies in most countries; alcohol is legal only because people would literally flip out and still consume it because it has been such an integral part of culture/society for so long that it's impossible to ban without negative consequences. No other than historical reasons. It's the same thing as when pleading to tradition: "it's always been this way", an argumentation fallacy.

Ughh, I've ranted about the same subject earlier too (in a freewrite). I guess freewriting can drive and pull the thoughts from our brain that are the most important... Is it kind of like getting closer to your subconscious mind? I would think so. Shutting down all the critic or nonsense your mind throws at you, so you can observe better what's really in there.

@celestal I really enjoyed this freewrite :) Something very different to the rest which is awesome.. I'll definitely be checking back in for your future freewrites!

You don't even know how delighted I was to read your comment in my gloomy Monday mood, thank you. Probably saved my day! Will check out yours too!

cool freewrite. I couldn't agree more with you that in my mind awakening=spirituality which in turn makes me think of the mind and psychedelics. Maybe because I know how much good they can do - even the bad trips end up teaching you something new about yourself LOL.

Yeah, bad trips sometime could be the most healing. Not that I've had any. I've only tried small dose of psilocybin mushrooms (btw, watching ants on shrooms is really satisfying, lol). I tried DMT too but I couldn't smoke it/smoked wrong; it burned my throat and I couldn't hold it :(

oh I've had a few bad trips using LSD lol - definitely leaves a lasting impression. Never a bad one with psilocybins. Haven't tried lab created DMT. Always hoping to find one of those Ayahuasca retreats I keep hearing so much about though. Have a cousin who went and she said it was un-explainable.

I've pretty much heard the same thing; it's just out-of-this-world experience.

Drugs and psychedelics has always been part of our culture and history throughout the world. Interestingly, its only when the tobacco industry started gaining power that all these alternatives were "dangerous and illegal"

Many influential individuals like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates attribute drugs to the formation of their creative ideas

Good note, that's true.

I've heard that about Steve Jobs but didn't know Bill Gates has also been into drugs/psychedelics.

Thanks for commenting!

I hate the fallacy of "its always been this way". Glad you were able to participate today :). I think freewriting does offer a way to get into our minds deeper than we would otherwise.

We are on the same page then! Thank you for visiting here!

Sometimes law is about rationalization of the society, sometimes it's more about some sort of tribal taboos.

Luckily there's been some progress with the legalization of cannabis, and I believe Norway is doing some sort of rethinking (there is/was some sort of drug conference) with psychedelics and they've lowered the punishment for the custody of LCD from prison sentence to community service.

That's a wonderful side effect of freewriting. Know thyself.

It's kinda like psychotherapy where you tell your thoughts in freeflow to your therapist, but in the case of freewriting there's no therapist of course, unless you count the writer as one.

The universe is your therapist.
