Freewrite | Flashlight or Laughter Pt. 2

^{The following text can be (and should be) read as a follow up for the Laughter storyline, born a couple of freewrites ago. I'm very fond of the main characters, and I'd love to develop them for you to know them as I do.}

There she was, sitting by the shore, with the uprising tide dancing rhythmically around her ankles. In such moments of calm, the memories always came back the harder. Nervously, she dug with her fingers on the sand, as if searching for roots to hold on.

A few months ago, she used to scream at the sea the thoughts she couldn't share with him. Hoping for the waves to take it all away, she would cry for help, yell in anger, and then she would crumble down and let the cold water caress her skin as he would if he was there.

Now, she just remained silent, staring at the horizon. Facing the ocean, she began to enter the void of his insurmountable absence. This time she knew she was alone, with not even a flashlight to walk her through the moonless depths.
