“A surprise is coming...” - freewrite

This freewrite had a lot in common with one recurring scene in Confessions of the Damaged that I heave been sharing at steemit called A Dream Sequence

She turned the corner. There were hardly any people. It seemed as if the entire neighborhood was entirely abandoned. Trees lined the empty roads and the thoughts that lined her psyche were plucked one by one by some unseen force. The road prodded her onward, choosing for her which way to go. She had been on her way home and now she found herself in an unfamiliar little corner of her town, which mysteriously was void of civilization aside from the empty houses that hid behind the overgrown trees, scattered between forest.

“This way”, it seemed the trees were speaking to her.

She followed their suggestion and found herself at a dead end. She knew because there was a sign that said “DEAD END”.

“We’ve been waiting for you.” It said, beckoning her towards the house wedged between two woods at the end of the road. She walked up to the door and, as if possessed, turned the knob on the door without much of a thought.

“There’s a surprise coming to you...”

She let the door creak open.
