Elephants From Outer Space (5 Minute Freewrite)
One dark night, Peter switched on his radio. Some awful music was playing. Suddenly the song is interrupted.
“We interrupt this song, which is not very good, to bring you some news which is coming from a forest, somewhere in England. We can also report similar sightings around the world. We can see it now, this could be an historic event. We think it’s a UFO, we repeat, we think it is a UFO. It is descending slowly to land.”
Will these be friendly? Maybe Peter will be the one to decide.
“It has landed, the spaceship has landed. The door is about to open. What can we expect? Are they here to be a friend?”
The radio commentator continues. “The door is open, but nothing is happening so far. The world is not prepared for this. Who is coming?”
Elephants, hundreds of elephants, they are running out of the spaceship and they are just charging relentlessly. First the trees are falling, then they reach the city. Buildings collapsing everywhere. Historic landmarks falling to the ground. Did we upset them? What is their purpose?
The White House, destroyed. Big Ben, gone. Bruce Banner research laboratory in ruins (although that may come back to haunt them).
“What can the world do about this?” asks the radio commentator. “Maybe we should talk to Peter.”
“What is wrong Peter?” asks the radio commentator.
Peter is startled, “the radio commentator, you are talking to me.”
Peter realised, he was angry because he had been told to tidy his room. He had created elephants from outer space to destroy the world. But deep down, Peter was a nice boy who wished no harm on anyone.
He decided that the elephants need to go home.
“What is happening?” asks the radio commentator. “It looks like the elephants are going back to the spaceship. That is correct, the door has shut. They have gone. There are no reported casualties.”
The man on the radio continues. “I have just one question now? Who will tidy up the mess?”
“I will take care of it,” replied Peter. “It is my story after all.”
