They Are My 'Spun Glass' | #FreeWrite [Delicate]

There are just things that we connote as 'something' and it will be marked forever as such.

For instance, the color pink—it was associated to someone who is soft-hearted, emotional or someone who is into girly stuff. That's why when a man wears something pink he was easily judge as gay. But if you'll be honest, this color totally looks good on men, gay or not.


Another example would be language. If you're a person who can speak fluent english which was thought as 'glopbal lingua franca' you are superior and much more privileged. To those who speak broken english or could not speak english at all, they were regarded as inferior, when in fact they are polyglot and way smarter than those 'privileged.'

But what I would really like to point out is how we connote 'PARENTS.'

Remember when we were young we were told that we are delicate, so precious that we can't do anything for our self. We are being taken care of like a queen—we felt so secured. And then the day comes when we wanted to grow up fast so that we can be on our own and do everything with freedom.


And voila! here we are old enough to live and enjoy, free from asking consent.
But while living the life we dreamed of or while chasing our dreams, did we manage to call and check on our parents—how they're doing, are they alright? I bet, most of us can live through out the day without fretting how our parents day gone by.


My parents were always there, providing things that I need, ensuring my welfare, making me feel secured. They were the strongest—not even sickness and distance stops them from taking good care of us. I never took notice that as I grow up they are growing old too. Their eagerness to protect us is so strong but their bones are getting fragile. They can remember our names, birthdays and achievements but they are starting to forget their way home. They will stay awake to make your fever and pain go away but they can't even go and have their self checked in the hospital they just endure all the pain. They can hear you crying at your sleep but the truth is they are already experiencing gradual hearing loss. They continue to love us wholeheartedly but their heart is starting to get slower.

So again you may ask what is it that I'm trying to point out.

Well, I think it's time we changed our thinking that our parents are strong— always strong.


For in reality just like the young ones, they our delicate and precious too.
