Day 514: 5 Minute Freewrite: Monday - Prompt: control (or lack thereof)

in #freewrite5 years ago

I am (hopefully) near the end of a 2 yr ordeal, where I am TRYING
DESPERATELY to get my right hip replaced. Two years of being at the mercy
Of VA Dr's who really don't seem to care about me, or the urgency of my

Pain

14 months diagnosed as SCIATICA (there's no arthritis in your hip
Mr Smith, there's nothing wrong with your hip Mr Smith)
Finally in June 2018 I got my new Medicare Dr's to send me to an ORTHOPEDIST
Who xrayed the same hip and said "It's no wonder you're in pain Mr Smith...

you are walking bone-on-bone, there is no cartilage in your hip!!!"

I have JUST NOW last week in fact finally FINALLY met with an Orthopedic
Surgeon. As I left, I was handed a THINK folder of papers.
One of those was a "Clearance for Surgery" to be given to my Primary Care.
It asks for the latest labs and ekg etc... the most recent to do those was my
NEW PRIMARY CARE at Grady, but I only had one form, I have TWO primary care
Dr's. The VA has far more data on me.
I've spent most of today TRYING to get another copy of that form so I can
Take it to my BLOODY VA PRIMARY CARE DOCTOR, so I can get this
BLOODY BALL ROLLING.

This has been my 5 minute rant for today

about LACK of Control

I finally got through and they will send me another copy
To give to my VA Dr.

Hey @jerrytsuseer I am sorry that you must struggle through this ordeal. As a diagnostic medical imager, I have seen first hand what they mean by BONE ON BONE in joints , knees and hips are the worst. But if and when you get that HIP replacement...wow you will be amazed how it will change your quality of life. Hang in there my friend and best of luck

Thank you for understanding @farm-mom, everyone says that it
Will not take long, recovery is comparatively quick, and I will
Wonder what took me so long to do it.
What took me so long was the VA misdiagnosing me, mis-
Treating me, and now I am finally on the brink of getting
It done. I spent much of yesterday and even more today
In bed, just because I had nothing to do, no where to
Go, not that doesn't hurt, and I'm still waiting for
PAPERWORK.
I am an ENTERTAINER, I play and sing for seniors
Which does pay me, but it is my sole bright point
In my life these days. I haven't been able to do that
But once or twice a month in a year now.
My music is stagnating, I can't even sit here at my keyboard
And play, because I feel dead inside and it hurts to sit!!

Oh boy it kills me that the VA is so messed up, YOU deserve better. But good news, Yes you will be a whole different man once that hip gets replaced. The surgery is so awesome now, really honed in, and you will recover quickly, you'll see. My best energy is coming your way my friend

That animated gif at the end of your five-minute rant is very appropriate!! I can't even imagine the agony you must be in or the anger and frustration you've had to deal with!

:(

I hope that the paperwork all gets sorted for you pronto!

Please come join us for Day 515!!

Thank you for the sympathy and support @kaelci, I DID get another of
Those forms, scanned and sent to my VA PCP. Then just today, my
Last/First labs came to the "Patient Portal" for Grady, so I was
Able to download, print, create a fax cover and take that
With me this morning to my Chiropractor appt. and
Got THEM to fax it to my new Ortho Dr. So things
Are beginning to line up. I hope. For a while
Last week right after that first Ortho visit,
I felt a weight had been lifted, but then
Sunday and Monday, I stayed in bed
Much of the day, in pain and
Disheartened/depressed.
I will not give up easily

Oh boy! Jerry, you are really suffering as bone to bone is the most excruciating pain. Mine was the left knee and at first a doctor injected stuff that were touted as a liquid cartilage in between the two bones. The needle was as thick as a knitting needle and my wife almost fainted.
Of course it didn't work even at the price of a new car and then I went to see a knee specialist who said that the bones needed to be trimmed. He performed an orthoscopy on the knee and this was done about 11 years ago. Only now the pain is starting again.

It is amazing what progress they have made with hip replacements and you will soon be as good as new.
I hope it gets done soon my friend!
All blessings to you!

Thank you Stephen, the first thing they wanted to do with me was a
Cortisone injection, but I am a CNA, I know that Cortisone is only a
Stopgap, that it help preserve the remaining cartilage, but I HAD
None to preserve, so I skipped that painful procedure.
I just made this post right now, because you made me realize I had
Forgotten to do it last week.
Just for you cuz.
