Prompt of the day “Buffer” - I’ve Lost My Crutch!

Do you ever feel like you need a buffer for life? The constant bombardment of situational stresses cause you to spiral out of control? Today is my rest day because exactly that happened yesterday!
Today I realize how much smoking has been a crutch for dealing with my anxiety which typically my down regulation of that anxiety ends up putting me in a place of depression without that crutch.
Yesterday I completely crashed when I came home because I spent the entire day trying to down regulate myself from the stresses caused by work and their desire to do renovations while everyone is still trying to get a job done. It was a complete fuck show!
When I try to express my concerns to the manager he simply stated “don’t worry about it” even when trying to make a logical point he just completely dismissed anything I had to say. Then on top of that he wanted us to take up less space which meant telling us to “do nothing“ then decided to come back and get angry that we were all standing around doing exactly what he told us to do! To add a cherry on top it all he had no solution to add only continuously pointed out what he saw the problem to be, us! If you ask me, if you are incapable of expressing a solution to the problem that you see you should not be a fucking manager!
So after burning myself out yesterday I decided today is a rest day, seven days straight hustling that’s pretty damn good. Even the hardest working fitness dudes have a rest day now and again so I don’t feel bad about it even in the slightest.
It’s more a realization that I am going to require something more than just activity in replacement of the crutch that I have lost because when I down regulate myself to the point of depression and I am physically exhausted from it going for a run is not an option to deal with that problem.

It is gradual by gradual and finally you will say bye bye to smoking
I think I have actually kicked it right off the bat the only problem I’m having is I need some other crutch to replace it that is relaxing and not physical exertion! Thanks for stopping in my friend 🙏

I feel you man but there’s a reward in the journey just stick with.
You’re supposed to take a day off every once in a while though. Recovery is just a part of the game.
I like to try to do stuff that feels good to me though. Sounds kinda weird but self massage is the shit if you’re not able to get to a massage therapist.
They have different smr techniques you can use to get feeling pretty relaxed after it stop hurting. 😎

So far I’ve yet to find any real reward just more problems to deal with, that’s life it seems 🤦♂️
See personality I don’t like massages, even of myself.... it’s torture and not pleasant and I do not find it relaxing. The only way I find myself able to relax is by doing like deprivation, no sound no light no stimuli otherwise simple noises when trying to calm down sends me over the edge!
