Saturday Freewrite Single Prompt: Dream

in #freewrite6 years ago

I lay in bed ponderous, time like an ever rolling stream washes away the pain of the yesterday. The start of everyday is a brand new opportunity; we can only move with the flow and hope we don't crash into too many rocks of disappointment along the creeks of life.
Despite the heartaches of the past, we must cling on to the present and hope for a better tomorrow.
Life deals us different hands, some are good while others a bit better. We got two options, play what we're dealt or risk taking from the deck; it could get better or worse.
Its easier for some to close their eyes in the middle of the night; some have the mental fortitude to stay strong when moments seem bleak while others simply fold. There's also those who close their eyes because of contentment; the feeling of satisfaction that can only be derived from within softens the blow of their inabilities, dwelling constantly on the positives.

There's others scared of the darkness from their eyelids, there's a perceived darkness constantly after them. The worry lines crowd our face and we spend many a pensive moment in agonizing silence. The fear of the dark keeps us from dreaming. Our eyes remain open because of the pains caused by the figurative slumber that amounted to nothing.
Perhaps dreaming is for losers. The real winners are the people who were capable of bringing theirs to fruition, therefore, the winners were once losers after all. Perhaps I should dream. image

Beautifully written and so true. And hope is everything; without it we have nothing. And, I loved the ending! : )

Thanx dear. I'm glad you enjoyed it

This struggle called life challenges us all! You write well regarding the inner turmoil many face when troubles beset us.
Often, it is our reaction to trials that make or break us. You end with:

Perhaps I should dream.

I could not agree more. Goals and dreams have brought me out of deep troubles and provided fortitude. Small accomplishments toward those dreams encourage me. Baby steps at times were all I could, and at times still can muster, but that small pin prick of hope has fed me through impossible seeming darkness. hugs!

Loved this: "We got two options, play what we're dealt or risk-taking from the deck; it could get better or worse." I am the one that likes to take from the deck and need to learn how to deal with what I already have! :) Life is sooo much fun! Thank you for this lyrical break! Keep writing.

Thanx dear. Taking from the deck is a risky one but if you're good with rolling the dice, I wish you the best.
